Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Reynolds.

Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from Jackson, TN, but Memphis has been my home for over 11 years now. My professional journey in marketing spans more than a decade, during which I’ve had the privilege of honing my craft at industry leaders like FedEx and Frontdoor, both based in Memphis, as well as Google.

While my career was growing in the corporate world, my heart was becoming increasingly tied to the local entrepreneurial spirit. Through my involvement with organizations like New Memphis, Leadership Memphis, and NEXUS Leaders in addition to my own personal and professional connections, I saw firsthand that Memphis has abundance of small businesses and creators.

Interestingly, the blueprint for my firm was actually written over 10 years ago. Like many aspiring entrepreneurs, I sat on those plans for a long time—but in 2025, I finally decided it was time to execute. My goal is to take the high-level marketing expertise I’ve gained and make it accessible to the local businesses that drive our city.

Today, RCG Consulting focuses on helping entrepreneurs expand their reach and understand the resources available to them. Whether a client wants a ‘hands-on’ partnership to learn the ropes themselves or prefers to leave the strategy entirely in my hands, I provide the tools and services needed to translate big ideas into tangible results.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Yes and no.

The biggest struggle wasn’t necessarily the work itself—I actually started doing resume/brand revisions and logo design back in college—but rather the act of officially getting started.

For over a decade, I created a number of mini-business plans, sketched out logos, put together pricing lists, etc. I have those scattered across probably 10 different notepads, Post-Its, and Notes in my phone. I even went as far as purchasing my LLC in 2020 to force my own hand, yet I still didn’t fully launch until 2025. While I found inspiration through professional recognition in my corporate career and various freelance wins, the leap to actually launching RCG Consulting has been a long time coming.

Even after launching in 2025 with a solid client base, the road stayed winding. I hit a stagnant period early on, and candidly, I still regularly question my own strategy. I think many business owners can relate to that internal monologue: ‘Am I doing enough? Are these the right offerings? How do I sustain this growth?’

I’m still navigating those questions today, but that’s the nature of the work. As I move through 2026, my focus is on intentionality and consistency. I’m refocusing my energy to ensure that the success I’ve seen so far isn’t just a spark, but a sustained flame for years to come.

How do you define success?
While I obviously value traditional milestones like awards and recognition, increased profits, and a growing client list, my personal definition of success is rooted in simply putting forth the effort and continuing to show up.

This applies to every facet of life—whether it’s at work, at home, in your fitness journey, or building a business of your own. As I’ve learned through my own journey, the hardest part is often just taking that first step. That being said, I view the courage to start as a success in itself.

It’s also about having the gumption and resilience to get back on track when you miss a goal or fall off entirely. Most importantly, it’s being able to identify and appreciate the positives and learning opportunities along the way even and especially when you feel you’ve fallen short.

To me, success isn’t a static destination—it’s a cycle:
Learn from the setbacks. Highlight and apply the good. Take that first step again.
