Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Henderson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 1986 my sister and I started a drapery work for the design trade and retail custom furnishings. It wasn’t
long before I was acting as the designer for most of the projects that came our way. At that point I sold out my side of the business and joined a design firm. Over the next 20 years I concentrated on the interior design. I started taking small renovation projects for my clients that lead to me becoming a general contractor. My focus is the higher end clientele with an eye for the finer things in life. I think of myself as a lifestyle designer. I work with my clients to create eclectic, comfortable and totally usable spaces. I have been an owner at Vignettes Interiors for the last 25 years. I have recently started my new company, Henderson House LLC. This company is a culmination of my experience with interior design and General contracting. I like doing the projects from conception to completions. I do not build new houses, but I design, renovate and decorate unique spaces for my clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has never been a smooth road. I think that being in business has all of its own challenges. After looking back on the past, one of my biggest mistakes has been trying to grow to fast. Coupled with the ups and downs of the economy, it has been very hard at times to keeps the numbers up. As part of the design side of the business, I have always maintained retail store. This is especially hard at time. You struggle with keeping the showroom fresh and full.
As you know, we’re big fans of Henderson House LLC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
It is a turn key design renovation business. I am ask to design spaces and renovate them to a higher standard than most projects. Most of clients don’t have time to dedicate to this process. I make this easy for them to visualize and complete. What sets me apart? I am turn key. I am most proud of the connections that I create with my clients and their spaces that I help them create. If you are looking for a knowledgeable and creative person to help you realize the spaces you see in your head; I’m your guy.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I think that I city is finally catching up to more progressive cities in our country. We have so much to offer but it gets overshadowed by al the crime and political tension.
