Inspiring Conversations with Samantha Powell of Mommy Isn’t Perfect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Powell.

Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
In 2015, I opened a nail, hair, and massage parlor. As the CEO, I was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, payroll, inventory, employee relations, database management, and financial management. The company maintained a 5-Star rating within 6 months of opening and served over 500 clients.

Although the company was growing, the location was not good. Lack of parking turned a lot of people away and the company folded shortly after. I did not get discouraged because I knew that this endeavor was only the first of many to come. Failure is not failing, it is an opportunity to learn and grow to get to the next level. I continued to go to college while chasing my dreams which also included Acting.

During this time, I found the love of my life, got married, and started a family. Even with more challenges, I still achieved obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Medical Dosimetry and Associate of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology. Even though it took me over 8 years to obtain my degrees I did not give up.

After reaching my degree goals and landing my 6 figure job in 2022, I went on to write a #1 Best Selling Book on AMAZON. Mommy Isn’t Perfect is a book that reveals all the mistakes a mommy may have made because she isn’t perfect and how a young girl can avoid those same mistakes growing up or spot them a mile away.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were many struggles along the way. After my company folded back in 2016 and becoming a new mommy I ended up moving back to Memphis, TN to recalibrate. For some time I was a single mother until my husband and I got together in 2018.

For years, I was trying to find exactly what it was that I was looking for as an entrepreneur that would catapult my life as well as my happiness. But, then I realized that I needed to get better at finding happiness within first so I did just that.

I began emerging myself into numerous audiobooks, on average 30-40 hours a week of growth development and financial literacy. I refuse to stumble through this world, this is my life and I will make sure that I get it right no matter the obstacle.

I managed to have 3 beautiful girls, get married, obtain two degrees, start 2 companies, become a Medical Dosimetrist and become a best-selling author within 5 years. I can not imagine where I will be 5 years from now. I am excited because I truly believe I control my destiny and I will keep pressing forward no matter what.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We aim to support, encourage and uplift one another through the journey of motherhood. We here at “Mommy isn’t perfect” strive to teach each other to become more authentic and expressive while growing with our children. We aim to support each other in spiritual and physical healing.

Our children need to not just know the good moments in our lives but those that weren’t so great as well. This way they can learn from their parents’ experiences versus their own. But that takes us being open, honest, and of course authentic.

The “Mommy Isn’t Perfect” book is for the young girls in this world so that they can avoid many pain points that most girls do growing up in this world. This book will even teach mothers how to be more expressive with their kids just by using my expression within the book as an example.

This will also help single fathers understand what girls tend to go through and how we most commonly function. It is a good book for all ages.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
My little people. They are my future. I hope to inspire them to reach for far more than the stars because the world and sum are up for grabs.

They are so beautifully spirited and I will try everything in my power and more to support them and guide them in any way that I can through this journey of life.
