Today we’d like to introduce you to Sannecia Davis.
Sannecia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Greetings, 10 years ago I struggled with a drug addiction that stripped me from everything I once loved including myself. Opioids ended up being my drug of choice even though I dabbled with all drugs. I was in and out of the jail system for about five years. I can’t count on my hand the numerous drug overdoses of loved ones and friends that I knew who passed. I was so tired I can faintly remember trying to take my own life, but God had other plans for me. I was raised in church, I had a praying grandmother who wouldn’t give up on me, she gave my life all she had until she no longer could, and she passed away with hopeless tears in her eyes on her death bed. I ended up going back until the jail cell for a violation of my probation leaving my children once again. I began to pick my bible back up and started back reading asking God to help me with a monkey I was fighting with on my back and that I was losing. My life began to change immediately. I was introduced to a drug program or go to prison for 10 years. I took the drug program and was immediately released. But while incarcerated I wrote down everything I was going to do and applied it. I came home and enrolled in a fashion college and started a Brand called BlessedGals taking it to social media with t-shirts telling my story that went viral. Real Life Stories Turned into Fashion. Every t-shirt I made was something that happened in my life. My brand touched the world, everyone all over the world could relate to my story. I opened a storefront BlessedGals and my brand and story six years later are still reaching and touching people. I decided to take my fashion statements and put them on the runway and that’s how Fire on the Runway was created one of the biggest fashion shows in central Arkansas. I started a prison program called Blessings After to where I transport children to prisons to visit their incarcerated parents. I love my new life, I believe God does give second chances you have to want it, fight for it and never give up. Four months ago, I filmed a documentary with PBS called Connected. Stay tuned as for the show to air as my success and story continue to give hope to the hopeless.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all, it has been a journey changing people, places, and things. You have to deal with a lot of people waiting on you to fail but so many people looking up to you which put a lot to carry on your shoulders at times.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business BlessedGals is a motivational boutique where we offer multiple services such as Body Sculpting, Teeth Whiting, Fashion Styling, we have a make-up artist, we have a hairstylist where we make all women and men feel good. We are a nonjudgment place where clients love to come in and just sometimes vent with everyday life situations. It is not about the money at BlessedGals and that is what make our business stand out different from the rest.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have not one but two mentors, I strongly suggest getting a mentor. You can never stop learning ever. I love networking, I am always meeting new people continuing to educate people on second chances.
