Inspiring Conversations with Sheya Chisenga of The Woman Christian CEO Coaching & Leadership School

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheya Chisenga.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Sheya L.Chisenga. I am the CEO and Founder of It’s My Time to rising Business Institute for Women Leaders and the Creator of the Woman Christian CEO Brand. I am the wife of Terry Chisenga of 14 years and the mommy Sheya to Rose & Marjory.

My Journey:

I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2004, joining a direct sales company called Warm Spirit. I fell in love with the idea of how they were helping women in self-care and finding their life’s purpose. God guided me to become a life coach. This profession was the answer to my career and calling in ministry.

In 2009 I received my Certification as a Biblical Life Coach 2009. I launched my coaching practice in January 2010. The opportunity of a lifetime came in May 2010, when my job of 8 years was eliminated. I took a leap of faith to go full-time into business, but I failed miserably. I spent money going from one event to the next and buying all types of business products trying to find how to build a business.

After trying everything I could, I went back to work as an entry-level bank teller earning $13.00 per hour in August of 2012. I was discouraged and depressed, but my calling would not allow me to give up. I took this time to start from scratch. I worked to clarify who I was called to serve and what solutions I provide in the marketplace.

In September 2013, I leaped out on faith again and retired from Corporate America officially. I re-launched my full-time coaching business and never looked back.

My entire entrepreneurial journey is a faith walk, but there are many stories; this story accelerated our growth when we moved into our business center. In 2016 in prayer, the Holy Spirit unction me to find an office. A few things were against me from getting an office, my income was inconsistent, and my credit was not the best. One of those moments was when I had to take fast action and lean into what God had placed on my heart.

My best friend Aneitra and my business partner at the time, God, spoke to her heart about the same thing. We knew it was God. We found a place and applied, and the office manager never looked at our credit and gave us the first two months free while we created a plan to make sure we could pay our office rent.

From saying YES to God’s plan, the business income tripled in a few months. It has been six years, and we are still there, thriving even through the pandemic. We keep growing and can meet our financial responsibilities and obligations with no stress.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle growing up was finding my identity and truly discovering where I fit in – as Sheya, not the Preacher’s daughter. As I wrestled with it, this lead me down a path of seeking validation from sources that honestly meant me harm. As a result, I found myself in a cycle of dead-end relationships that left me wounded with low self-esteem and lacking confidence.

All along, I had no idea that God was using this experience to mold me into the woman that I am today. This is why I go so hard in my programs on mindset because I realize that many women out there have had similar experiences. They know that God has called them to greatness but because they found their identity in other areas it has hindered them from going to the next level in their life and business, but in order to break through to walk fully in their purpose, they have to heal from past wounds.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
