Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivica Smith
Hi Vivica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a full spectrum doula. A doula is a non medical professional who provides guidance for the service of others and who supports birthing women through a significant health-related experiences, such as childbirth, miscarriage, induced abortion, VBAC, etc.
My journey start off slow and I was working on two different doula certifications so I can serve women in different ways. Now I’m serving women in the ways such as prenatal support, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and miscarriage and abortion support. I also do lotus births, placental encapsulations, and I’m a breastfeeding peer counselor.
I grew up with my widowed dad and my sisters. My paternal grandmother helped my dad take care of us. I’ve always had a passion for pregnancy and babies. On top of the fact my mom had 16 miscarriages and stillbirths that made me want to learn how to treat and care for pregnant women so I knew I always wanted to work in that field.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles I have a had were basically making sure the clients I took were my ideal clients and that we meshed together. It’s also Ben hard ensuring I get paid for my services even with insurance involved
As you know, we’re big fans of Rhaine’s Holistic Haven. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a double certified full spectrum doula who is serving women in different ways such as prenatal support, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and miscarriage and abortion support. I also do lotus births and placental encapsulations. I also am a breastfeeding peer counselor. I make and sell herbal supplements for anything related to women’s health, pain oils, teas for different ailments.
My future I plan on being a midwife, while still being a doula. I’ll be traveling more to serve clients and making more holistic supplements and products.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
In order to serve others I have to be at my best self. I learned that everyone reacts differently to being in labor and that they all deserve to be treated with the same love and respect as anyone else
