Life & Work with Amecia Wilburn of Southeast (Orange Mound )

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amecia Wilburn.

Hi Amecia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What began as a simple hobby gradually evolved into something much greater. I’ve always had a passion for shoes, often buying them on impulse and then searching for the perfect shirt to match. Sometimes I could find what I needed in stores, but other times I had to rely on local vendors. Over time, it became increasingly frustrating to track down the exact colors and styles I wanted on short notice.
That challenge sparked my curiosity. I began exploring the process and costs involved in creating my own apparel. What started as experimentation soon turned into a creative outlet. As I wore the shirts I designed, people began to take notice, and interest in my work steadily grew.
Encouraged by that response, I started researching how to turn my passion into a business—one that could be both profitable and accessible without placing a financial strain on myself or my customers. As the business gained momentum, it motivated me to expand my skills and push my creativity further, learning new techniques and making the most of my equipment to bring even more ideas to life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t been entirely smooth, but it hasn’t been overly difficult either. Like any growing venture, it has come with its share of challenges. One of the most significant has been pushing myself to develop skills and ideas that truly set my work apart from others in the same space.
Standing out in a competitive market requires more than just passion—it demands creativity, consistency, and a willingness to continuously learn and evolve. Embracing that challenge has been a key part of my growth, both as a creator and as a business owner.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating a wide range of artwork for apparel, offering both custom designs and familiar styles that resonate with my customers. My brand is built on a strong commitment to excellent customer service and consistently fast turnaround times.
What I take the most pride in is the quality of my work and the efficiency with which I’m able to deliver it. One of the key factors that sets me apart from others in the industry is my ability to produce high-quality products quickly, without compromising attention to detail or customer satisfaction.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
At the core of my business, I believe that exceptional customer service and reasonable pricing are essential. Providing a positive, reliable experience for every customer is just as important as delivering a quality product. I strive to ensure that my services remain accessible, offering fair pricing without compromising the standard of my work.
