Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Dail.
Hi Anthony, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started about 10 years ago in videography when I visited a number of real estate companies and presented them with “real estate videos”.
Most people didn’t buy the fact that videos were going to become a popular thing. You have to remember, this is pre-TikTok and before videos on other social media outlets really began to take off. We as a society were still living in the photography-only stage, so most people thought I was crazy. I went to one last real estate company and they saw my vision and sent me to a nice listing.
They loved the results and began using me on all of their premier listings. About a year later, one of their competitors inquired about me. After some time, word of mouth spread about me, and real estate videos took off. My business grew over the years to what it is today and I’m now doing a variety of other types of videos and commercials for small businesses.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I struggled when I first began because I had no clue how to operate a camera. I had to learn from scratch and from what I could pick up here and there from a few close friends.
Looking back, I must have drawn a lucky number as I don’t know how my videos turned out as well as they did. Lol, I had no clue as to what camera or what lenses to use. It was a learning process hands down.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Over the years, I have done a wide variety of videos. I am mostly known for my creativity in real estate and race car videos. I have done over 700 real estate listings to date and worked around multiple race cars and drivers. I am never told what to do.
When I ask what a client wants, they often tell me they trust me and for me to do my thing. At that point, I let the creative juices flow and get to work. I enjoy what I do and I am highly motivated when it comes to my work, and the results reflect that.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
In addition to videos, I enjoy taking photos in my spare time. I feel there is more free range in photography, which makes for an interesting concept coming from the world of videography. I love getting the perspective that a person doesn’t normally see, which I feel makes my photos pop a bit more. Memphis offers a diverse range of photography options which makes it a target-rich environment.
To make things simpler, a person will often see me ride my electric scooter in the downtown area of Memphis. It allows me to see things you don’t see in a car, and it’s much faster than walking. If I want to take a second look at something cool, I can spin around and do what I want. It’s a major convenience and in my mind, the only way to get around in a downtown area.
