Today we’d like to introduce you to Asha Ball.
Hi Asha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My journey began in entrepreneurship at 25 years, my goal was to create a job that I did not have to set an alarm clock for in the morning. In my first year in business, I made over six figures but I had to work 7 days a week and long hours to get there.
My aunt adopted me and my 4 siblings at a very young age she is one of the most selfless people I know. My desire to keep going comes from her. Growing up we didn’t have much we lived in a two-bedroom house and my mom worked two to three jobs to take care of me and my siblings… we didn’t have access to the best clothes or getting our hair done but we made due.
My struggles with being a young girl and wanting to go to school looking beautiful were tough, so we had to be creative, my older sister taught me how to work with what we had and turn it into something beautiful, my sister taught me how to style my hair and clothes and really lifted my confidence. Growing up, I learned the importance of looking and feeling beautiful at a very young age and I decided to get in the business of beauty to help women feel beautiful and build their confidence just as my sister taught me.
My business is a full transformation salon. We are a full-service salon and boutique and we offer makeovers to women who are looking to build their confidence and also prepare women who are looking to get into the work field and are not sure how to dress or look for an interview. My older sister taught me how to be confident and beautiful but she lost her life being depressed and not feeling her most confident and beautiful self.
I never want women to not feel confident so I feel it’s my duty to give as much as I can in the beauty industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The obstacles I have challenged were keeping and managing staff. I always got the basics of what I desired in a business but I was not really gifted with being a “boss” and running my business.
I take seminars now to better myself at being the best boss/leader I can be.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hairstylist and clothing stylist and I absolutely love what I do.
