Life & Work with Bam Artistic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bam Artistic.

Hi Bam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Music has always been a part of my life. When I was younger, I would pay attention to songs my mother would play and then pay attention to the songs my father would play.

They both had different styles of music they liked but overall they had one thing in common. Passion for music. As I got older, switching school to school in Memphis I began listening to different genres of music.

Rock, pop, hip-hop, and more. I used music to get me through good and bad moments. Some songs would make me happy. Some songs would make me upset but I noticed that I have a deep passion for music myself. I’m not much of a talker I like to stay to myself but I also have alot to say so I began writing in a notebook while in high school. After high school, I thought about making music so much I didn’t know where to start.

A friend of mine, I had at the time was making music almost every day he could. I wanted that for myself so I approached him asking him how I get started. At first, I believed it would be easy nothing hard about it until I had to learn how to write a song by myself. After a while, I started to understand the format. At times, I became distracted. I had a job, and a daughter on the way, and didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do with my life other than making music. One day, I decided to go to a studio my friend went to and that was the start of BamArtistic.

That day in the studio my passion grew even more because once again thinking it would be so easy to record a song. It wasn’t. It was so much I had to learn when I left the studio that night I instantly went home wondering. As time went by I didn’t go to studios anymore I was too afraid of what others thought of me.

I started buying my own equipment and teaching myself how to put songs together, learning how to write songs better, and how I would deliver in front of a microphone. Each song I wrote, recorded and engineered I gained more confidence. Throughout my journey, I continue to get better and better as long as I have a passion for music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggle I had and still have from time to time is keeping my focus completely on music. Sometimes, I give my family more time and I work a full-time job.

I’m still learning as I go because it’s not easy putting family or a job on hold for one thing but music is something I love so much. It’s a challenge I continue to work through every day.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create music. I am a songwriter, engineer, performer, etc. I say whatever my heart may feel while making music because I love authenticity. I share my life and thoughts through my music.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Being able to create an idea, make the idea come to life, and complete the idea without giving up.
