Life & Work with Brandi Siggal of Southaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Siggal.

Hi Brandi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
This journey started 20+ years ago when I was planning my own wedding. I did not have a planner, only a day of “helper” from my church because I didn’t know that was a thing to even ask, but I probably couldn’t afford one back then either, so there’s that! However, my wedding was BEAUTIFUL, thanks to my mom who is a florist. She really did her thing for her only daughter. Fast forward several years later, my cousin was getting married and needed help coordinating her big day. I love to help people so I volunteered to be her coordinator. During the cocktail hour, I had several people stop and ask me if I was the one that planned the wedding because I looked like I was in charge, lol. They commented that it was so nice, organized and they were pleasantly surprised that it started ON TIME! I was flattered, but I was just doing what I do. Fast forward a couple years later, I designed and executed a friends baby shower, and everyone LOVED it. The guests were impressed with all the details that really captured the mom-to-be’s vision. She told me afterwards, that I should really be planning events. I brushed it off, but her words stuck with me. What I do know is that entrepreneurship is in me. I watched my mom run her flower shop and floral design business for most of my life. So…

Fast forward to 2019, I remember sitting in my closet with an overwhelming desire to work for myself. Keep in mind, I’ve had this longing deep down on the inside of me for years! It was that day that I made the move to legally form Epic Events. I wanted to help couples who were too busy with day to day life, careers or just lack the desire to plan a wedding with “all the things” that go into pulling such a grand event together. Over the years I’ve invested a lot of time and money into learning as much as I could about this industry so that my clients can enjoy their engagement journey with minimal stress and get the wedding of THEIR dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been fairly smooth. Looking back, most of the times when things didn’t go as planned could be pin pointed to it being a lesson I needed to learn and/or grow from or I simply didn’t listen to God and did it my way.

For example, at one point I was taking any client who was willing to pay that retainer. Because I didn’t want to turn down money, I was trying to build a business. But, I had a couple who I was told “no” to (from God) and I took them on as a client anyway. Let’s just say, we had to part ways. I remember feeling so defeated, but I was also reminded of the “no” that I heard OH SO CLEARLY and didn’t obey.

Don’t get me wrong, entrepreneurship is not for the weak or the sensitive. But I remain confident in knowing that entrepreneurship/business is a part of my purpose so I’ll weather the storms because I know seasons change and I’ll be better on the other side of it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
On the surface, I am an Event Planner and Designer aka, A Vision Executor.

I specialize in curating cohesive experiences with purposeful detail and flawless execution.

I’m known for my refined eye, calm leadership, and the ability to gain the trust of my clients by making them feel safe with me because I exude confidence and care.

Honestly, what sets me apart from all the other FABULOUS planners, is me. I am Brandi and I’m GREAT at being me; it’s easy. There isn’t another me and my clients get to experience that. My calm authority, my sense of humor, and my ability use my design eye, but also understand the flow, logistics and energy behind their big day makes me unique. My clients trust that I’ll protect their peace and bring their vision to life in a way that feels elevated, effortless, and uniquely theirs.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I was raised in Birmingham, AL and every summer my mother would take my brother and I to my grandparents house in Ripley, MS. There, I remember playing outside ALL DAY with my cousins. We would wakeup to the smell of homemade biscuits and coffee EVERYDAY! We ate breakfast and went outside shortly after. My grandparents had a farm and alot of land so we would run and play all day. I also had the honor (didn’t think so back then) of learning how to shuck corn, snap peas, milk cows, and we even chased the chickens around the yard. We drank out the water hose, ate grapes off the vine without washing them and ate homemade ice cream. We would come in for lunch, take a nap, got up and went back outside until dinner. Then we “washed up” for dinner and ATE GOOD. No cell phones, no social media, no “running in and out”, it was a good time!
