Life & Work with Faizah Husniyah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faizah Husniyah.

Hi Faizah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a little girl, I would go to the theatre with my mother who was an actress. I would help backstage and just the feeling of being around the lights and the energy of the actors. I knew I wanted to work in production.

I started out doing hair and makeup for fashion editorials. Then I transitioned into hair and makeup for TV and film, and that’s where the real work started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve had many challenges, being a single mother and working my way through this industry has been at times overwhelming. However, I always knew my end goal. I knew, I was going to accomplish these goals no matter what hurdles were ahead of me!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a professional hair and makeup artist for TV, film, and weddings. My specialty, I would say is flawless makeup looks and elaborate hairstyling… more on the Avant- Grade side.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I think that people would find surprising about me is that I am an avid classic film enthusiast. I love to study the styling of the hair and makeup and just how precise the techniques were and how flawlessly they were executed. I’m also an old school music girl, love me some Teddy P and Frank Sinatra.
