Life & Work with Jalesia Saulter of Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalesia Saulter.

Hi Jalesia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started out doing research on how to make my daughter a tutu for her birthday. I didn’t really have the funds to get her something made at the time so I decided to try it myself. It wasn’t that great in hindsight lol but that one tutu started something I still can’t fathom.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course it has *in the most sarcastic voice ever* lol. It’s been hard but very very rewarding. If I had to do it all over again in the exact same way I would. The only thing I would do differently is researching more resources and business essentials.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a clothing designer who makes custom items for all kinds of special occasions. I’m known for being very creative in all aspects. I’m also a licensed bartender and known for my mixology skills as well. I’m most proud of my ability to pick up a skill and make it my own. To be able to pivot depending on what’s trending at the moment. I believe what sets me apart the most is my personality. I try to pour it into every outfit and drink I create.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would love to mention my daughter’s father who was tragically murdered in 2015. I don’t want to make it sad or to overshadow the interview, I just would love to honor him. That situation is truthfully the beginning of being where/who I am today.
