Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalah Smith
Hi Kalah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started traveling at the age 3 years old. I’ve traveled to cities that I don’t remember but excited to rediscover. My passion for traveling continued to grow as I got older. In 2014, with the tragic passing of my brother, my travels were put on hold. I made a promise to myself and my late brother that “I will become successful for the both of us and make him proud.” I obtained my dual degrees at Tennessee State University and quickly entered the work field.
Feeling unfulfilled, in 2019, a family trip sparked back the passion I was missing. That year, I met my travel partner and we visited numerous of states and cities making it one of the best years of my life. Throughout the year, I would post my trips on my social platforms. I noticed people were tuned into my travels asking “Where am I going next?”
Towards the end of 2019, I realized that life was taking me on a different path and pushing me to get back into what I love to do, In the beginning of 2020, I converted my Instagram page to a travel vlog, made a Tiktok and became a Travel Influencer. Little did I know, that the road of an influencer wouldn’t be easy. From the pandemic, to limited access to travel, losing my job, to another unforeseen death made it very difficult to stay focus.
The obstacles didn’t make me give up. Today, I am still traveling and vlogging my adventures hoping to inspire people to get out there and explore the world. While vlogging, I also highlight restaurants, events and unique places that people would love to know if they are visiting that city. I’ve also partnered with businesses and other influencers along the way.
With my brother’s promise always in my thoughts, I have so much in store with my vlog and cannot wait for the steps of my journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a challenging road. One of the biggest struggles was the limited access to travel during the pandemic. Having a travel based business and not being able to go to any destinations put a big strain on me.
Losing my job and losing a prominent family member made it extremely hard to stay motivated as well.
“God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers”, which helped me continue to move forward.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a travel influencer/content creator and part-time model; I’m best known for my travels and my travel vlog.
What I’m most proud of is taking a chance on myself by creating my travel vlog, being able to helps others, continuing my education and creating memories while traveling with friends/family and meeting new individuals along the way.
What sets me apart from others would be my dedication and passion to inspire other people to explore the world. Creating an experience for people see through my travels on how beautiful different cultures, cities and countries can be is what keeps me grounded.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Both good and bad luck have played apart in my life and business from missing flights/being stranded in different city to partnering with local/big businesses. Overall, that’s what comes with being an influencer/entrepreneur, you have to take the good with the bad, stay optimistic cause it’s all apart of the journey.
