Today we’d like to introduce you to Komal Singh.
Hi Komal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My start to blogging became, as most of us do when I started my career and I wanted to focus on a hobby. I always wanted to start a blog, even in my college days, but never go around to it. So, when I moved to Memphis from New York back in 2016, I thought I would give it a shot. My blog started off as movie reviews and was nothing serious. I didn’t even have it promoted on social media channels.
After two years and less than 5 blog posts, I decided to create an Instagram (@KomalMeansDelicate) to accompany the blog. Instagram held me accountable to post and I loved being a part of the Memphis Blogging community. Once I started my Instagram journey for my blog, I realized that I didn’t want to blog about movie reviews anymore.
I enjoyed writing about travel, fashion, little bits of life, my Indian background, and blogging tips. So, I switched my focus to those topics and have enjoyed my blogging journey. Afterward, the rest is history!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My blogging journey has not always been a smooth road. As stated previously, I started by doing movie reviews and barely posting. The main struggle, in the beginning, was trying to be consistent with posting. I still struggle with my time management and making sure I post on time. However, I have developed a better schedule over the years and hope to continue this way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As my “day job”, I am a Clinical Researcher. I work in one of the Clinics in Memphis (but don’t want to give up the name for privacy purposes). In clinical research, I work on studies for pharmaceutical drugs or devices that are being tested to go on the market. I have worked from the beginning of a drug (years 1-3) to the post-FDA approval study phase (Years 12+). To put it in simple terms, I may or may not have been a part of the Covid-19 vaccine trials.
I’m most proud of being able to make a difference in people’s lives. I enjoy that the medication or device that is being tested will be able to assist us moving forward. For instance, the Covid-19 vaccine wouldn’t have been available if there was no research or studies done. I know that my work makes a difference and that’s what makes me happy.
I believe that being a part of the Clinical Research industry, in general, keeps me apart from others. It’s such a niche industry and not many know about it unless you’re in it.
We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
My view on risk-taking is that you take the risks that you believe you can handle. As for me, I’m not much of a risk-taker and don’t take many risks.
