Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristopher Tabor.
Hi Kristopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a family of artists, and my first creative talent was drawing. But I never liked the idea of being put in a box, so I explored different hobbies. My journey into photography started in middle school when I was handed my school’s Canon Rebel T3i to capture moments on a field trip for the yearbook. From that moment, I fell in love with photography, and it quickly became more than just a hobby.
I started filming videos for my church and taking photos everywhere; on vacations, at school, you name it. I was gifted my first SLR camera on Christmas, and from there, I became obsessed with learning the craft. I got really into Photoshop and became skilled at it. Around high school, I realized this passion could become something bigger.
Determined to level up, I saved up from birthdays, dog walking, and even selling snacks at school (yes, I was that guy—ask about me!). Eventually, with money from my first job, I was able to buy my first semi-professional camera. I was so excited that I learned how to use it months before I even had it in my hands.
Fast forward to today, I’ve built a photography and videography business focused on a commitment to quality and delivering work that stands out. Through being persistent and adaptable, I’ve grown it into something I’m proud of.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s part of what makes the journey worthwhile. Like any creative career, photography comes with its share of challenges; both in business and in personal growth.
Early on, one of my biggest struggles was figuring out how to turn my passion into a profitable, sustainable business. I knew I had the skills, but learning how to market myself, attract consistent clients, and create a strong brand identity was a different challenge. There were moments of doubt and times when I questioned if I was on the right path. I kept trying different paths but constantly felt like I was hitting a wall. Mainly because I was listening to others’ definitions of success instead of defining it for myself.
Balancing creativity with business was also a challenge. As an artist, I care about producing high-quality work, but I also had to think strategically. How to manage client expectations, streamline my workflow, and create an efficient booking process without burning myself out.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to not wait on others to open doors for you. If you want something, you have to take the initiative, put in the work, and create your own opportunities. No one is going to hand you success. Along the way, I’ve also learned to trust my gut. Good or bad. If something feels off or an opportunity presents itself, I listen. Most times where I’ve ignored that feeling, I’ve regretted it. Protecting your energy and making decisions that align with your vision is just as important as mastering your craft.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer and videographer specializing in portraits, weddings, and private events. Clients come to me for high-quality, creative visuals and an experience that’s professional, reliable, and personable.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail, diverse skill set, and ability to deliver strong results across both photo and video. I take pride in maintaining high standards and ensuring my work meets or exceeds expectations. It’s about making people feel seen, valued, and celebrated.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. From last-minute bookings to lifelong clients who continue to come back, the relationships I’ve built mean everything. Many of them have become more than a transaction. They’ve become friends, family, a support system, and ambassadors for me and my work. Their loyalty and advocacy have played a huge role in growing my business, and I don’t take that for granted.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is delivering quality work, treating others well, and building a life I’m proud of while doing what I enjoy. I want to ensure that what I create holds value and leaves a lasting impression.
