Life & Work with Regina Warmsley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Warmsley.

Hi Regina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started doing hair as a teenager, not knowing that it will be my career. I worked different jobs trying to find out what I liked or what it was that I wanted to do but nothing. I hated every job and never kept one longer than a year.

So I finally decided to go to cosmetology school in my late 20s and actually hated that as well lol because we had to do so many people’s hair for free, but that was all a part of the lesson. I graduated cosmetology school and went into hair head-on!

I was doing hair out of my home for a few years and then I got the opportunity to get my own personal shop in 2022. I am the owner of ReginaSlay Extensions, and my clientele has reached over 100 people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely hasn’t been a smoother road.

While attending cosmetology school, I was put out of my apartment because I couldn’t keep up with the bills. I’m literally in the middle of a lesson while they were throwing all of my belongings out on the street.

So I and my wife and children had to move in with my mom in a 2 bedroom home and sleep on the floor until we could save up enough money to move.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am one of the best hairstylists in Memphis, TN.

I specialize in wigs and weaves and I am mostly known for slaying those frontals. One of my most proud moments would be that I actually serviced NBA start Ja Morant’s sister’s hair, she’s currently still my client.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as hard work, dedication, believing in yourself when no one else would, and never giving up!
