Life & Work with T.r.a. Longway of Downtown Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to T.r.a. Longway

Hi T.R.A., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Family is full of musicians and natural singers, and I kind of wanted to do something different at first. I always enjoyed singing but I wanted to enjoy other things as a kid like sports. I ended up playing football and track in high school, but while I was playing sports I would go to the studio and record with my little brother and other local artists. After high school, I went to school on a track scholarship at the University of Arkansas and there I got involved with the music scene in Fayetteville Arkansas. I also got involved in the radio station and even invested in my own studio. From that point on, I ended up getting around some people that wanted to see me win creating a team, and thats why I am where I am today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road is never smooth, it’s always going to be curves and gravel roads, but the key to this is to keep going and never stop being consistent. I have battled with some depression and low self esteem due to past relationships, losses, etc. I just can’t seem to get myself to stop pushing and chasing this dream.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a musician by the name of T.R.A. LONGWAY that stands for The Real Artist Longway. I give my audience me, It’s all me, A few of my top songs are: “TAKE YOU DOWN” “Feelings” “4pm in Frayser” and “Chopped Cheese” A few things I am most proud of is my songwriting acknowledgments. I have been getting calls and emails from other artist to help collaborate on songs and even help song write for major artists. What sets me apart from the rest,I would say my flow on the songs. I don’t think nobody is touching my style. I also would say my confidence. I genuinely think I am the best.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I honestly do not think too much on the industries’ changes and shifts. I do see the trend being more space alien vibes. Coming into that science trend, but other than that I try to focus on myself and remain grounded. I do not want to fall into the “pool of comparing” So I just take my time and do my own thing.
