Meet Alexandra Hardee of Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Hardee.

Hi Alexandra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Art and beauty have been central to my life for as long as I can remember. I studied art in college, but my journey truly took shape in high school when I discovered a deep passion for tattooing. That passion stayed with me for years until I was finally able to secure an apprenticeship and begin my path as a tattoo artist.

After gaining experience in the industry, I opened my own studio, Bombshell Ink, with a mission to create a welcoming, non-intimidating space — especially for women, the LGBTQ+ community, and families seeking safe and professional ear piercing for their children. Years later, in a twist of fate, I learned that my great aunt was also a tattoo artist and studio owner back in the 1950s. She was a pioneer in advocating for health department involvement in tattoo studios, helping to set higher standards for sanitation in the industry. Discovering her story felt like a powerful affirmation that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

As our business evolved, so did our identity. We rebranded as Sacred Adornments — a name inspired by an article describing how adorning oneself with jewelry, perfume, and makeup can be a sacred, daily ritual of self-love. This idea became our guiding philosophy. Our focus is helping people feel beautiful, empowered, and wholly themselves.

Today, clients travel from all over for our services, which include luxury body piercing, custom tattoos, permanent makeup, and medical tattooing such as areola restoration. At Sacred Adornments, we believe every mark, every piece of jewelry, and every detail is an act of sacred self-expression.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path hasn’t always been smooth. My first apprenticeship ended prematurely — even 12 years ago the industry wasn’t as welcoming to women trying to break in. Eventually, I found a women-only tattoo studio that offered me a new opportunity, and that experience gave me the foundation I needed to move forward in my career.

Even after becoming a professional artist, challenges continued — especially when it came to finding commercial spaces for my business. Outdated prejudices against tattooing still exist, and finding a lease for a tattoo studio can be more difficult than many realize. Despite these obstacles, I’ve remained committed to creating a space that uplifts and empowers both artists and clients alike.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in color realism and painterly-style tattooing, with a particular love for feminine designs that carry a vintage aesthetic. My work is deeply inspired by beauty, emotion, and storytelling through art. I’m committed to continuous growth — constantly traveling, learning, and pushing myself to refine my craft. I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come in a relatively short time.

In addition to artistic tattoos, I’m also known for my work in medical tattooing, particularly realistic areola restoration for individuals who have undergone mastectomies, experienced surgical complications, or are seeking gender-affirming care. This aspect of my work is especially meaningful and rewarding, as it allows me to help people reclaim their confidence and feel whole again through the healing power of art.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
At Sacred Adornments, we truly offer something for everyone. Our studio provides an elevated experience — from our curated selection of high-end jewelry to our expert piercers and unique artists, every detail is designed to make clients feel special. For families, we’ve created a thoughtful and memorable first piercing experience for little ones, complete with a crown or toy and a certificate of bravery to celebrate the moment.
