Meet Alisha Wright of ELLE Interiors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Wright.

Hi Alisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The story that led me to design is a little unconventional. I actually started out as a small party planner during my time in Japan. I used to work at a Boys and Girls club as a Program Coordinator, and organizing special events for the kids and their parents was one of my favorite things to do for the center. I organized an Arabian Nights themed dinner event where we screened the Bollywood version of Aladin, and the parents, staff, and kids all loved it. A co-worker, who also attended this dinner party, planted the seed in my mind and suggested that I pursue party planning. So I did! I handmade centerpieces and planned smaller gatherings, like baby showers and birthdays, which eventually led to me adopting the craft as a main source of artistic expression. I come from a dance and cheer background, and since I was no longer performing on stages, I needed a creative outlet. Creating beautiful spaces was something I loved, and it awakened a deep passion within me. Years later, I became a real estate agent and quickly realized that the art of staging a home brought me far more joy than the act of selling it. So, I went to work, and studied about the history of interior design and decorating, design styles, and color theory. I taught myself how to sketch, and I heavily relied on my sketches since I had no formal AutoCAD or 3D rendering training. I never imagined I would go from making baby shower treat tables to decorating residential and commercial properties.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a spiritual person, I believe your birth chart will give you a road map to the details of your life. My chart is full of challenging aspects, and I can personally say that these challenges made for a bumpy road on my path through life. After my cardiomyopathy diagnosis in 2022, decorating became increasingly difficult, as I was a one-woman show – I was painting murals, putting together furniture, hanging wall art – I was doing it all, and I was doing it all on my own. These past few years have been about me shifting my business in a direction that is best for me and my personal health. Being a single mother of an autistic child has it’s challenges as well. However, I never lose my love for the craft, and that is something I am tremendously grateful for. With every obstacle that comes, I persevere and keep my steadfast nature. As a result, I continue to grow as an artist!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about ELLE Interiors?
Hi everyone! My name is Alisha, and I am the owner of a small interior design studio – ELLE Interiors. ELLE Interiors has modern & elevated mid-century roots paired with futuristic refinement. I take so much pleasure in curating eclectic, future-minded spaces rooted in timeless design, with a sprinkle of soulful expression. I do virtual design through mood boards and personal shopping, as well as redecorations of residential and commercial spaces. I also do kitchen and bath renovations. My style is what I believe sets me apart in this world of design. I believe that black and white go with everything! I love incorporating bold prints with elegant and soft elements to give a room balance.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
This road has been a solo journey for me, and I have had to be my own cheerleader and advocate. The art of design itself is what fuels me and gives me the power to stand in this journey.
