Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison Summers
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in body waxing. I worked a few years behind the chair, but was always drawn to the world of waxing. I started working at a large chain speed waxing facility in April of 2014 and was there until November of 2022. 8.5 years working for someone else helped me hone my skills, but felt like I was holding myself back. Thus bloomed Nourish Body Waxing, LLC!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth-ish? Heh, it would have been much rougher without the support of my husband, friends, and family. An amazing support group can make the roughest parts of life seem just slightly bumpy. There were internal struggles and external struggles. Self doubt was a hard one to over come because no one can help you with that! The external struggles include things like thinking I found the perfect space for my budding business, only to find that it was leased to someone else out from under me. Luckily I had an incredible friend in the industry tell me about my current space and its been amazing!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nourish Body Waxing, LLC?
I am a full body waxing studio! That’s right, full body. If its got hair on it I can, and will, wax it. I like to think I’ve created a comforting and calming space for clients to come for services that are, most of the time, neither of those things. I go to great lengths to make sure each and every person that comes through my door feels safe and taken care of here. I love my space I’ve created and I’m super proud of that! The thing that probably sets me apart the most from other waxers in Memphis is that I wax both male and female anatomy brazilians.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I do pottery!! I fell in love with the hobby about 2.5 years ago and its been super fun watching my own growth as time goes by. I do also dabble a little in baking, mostly cheesecakes, but I love a good banana bread!
