Today we’d like to introduce you to Amor KT.
Hi Amor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is KT and I am from Birmingham, AL. I started braiding hair just a little over a year ago on March 04, 2021, due to losing my job.
I did my first head for $40. Yes, 40 bucks. I posted my work on Facebook. Next thing you know I was booked up the next week for box braids for $75 a head. I added stitch braids in July and then it took off from there.
I have had clients from California, Nevada (Vegas), Atlanta, Mississippi, and even FLORIDA. I really appreciate the support and social media has definitely gotten me where I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some struggles I have faced was trying to come up with something new for the braid world. Anyone can do Knotless. Anyone can do box braids and all of that.
My goal is to provide a tweak to my service that no one else can top. Give them a reason to choose me (KT) as their Braider.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I braid hair. I specialize in small knotless braids. I am most known for my particular parting and the long lengths that I do my extra small braids.
I am also known for being the Braider that has only been at it for a little over a year and my support is so strong. The clientele is through the roof. I also do Knotless braids on DREADLOCKS. And I do regular box braids on them. My video of the Knotless on locs went viral and here I am today! What sets me aside from others is that I’m strong.
I am always eager to learn and when other braiders try and tear me down because I haven’t been in the game as long as they have it really only turns me up. I love my clients. I love what I do. I never thought I would be a 22-year-old entrepreneur. I love it here
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to anyone starting out would be to follow YOUR heart.
Only you can guide yourself in the process of doing what makes YOU happy. Keeping God first, remaining humble, and shooting for the stars is the best thing to do.
On the hard days, just remember where u started and how far you’ve come. I promise when I do that I snap back into reality FAST.
