Meet Angela Cherry of SecureStream Pay Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Cherry

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up on a farm taught me the importance of hard work and follow-through, values that have been essential to my success. After high school, I chose marriage and motherhood over college. Eight years later, when my marriage ended, I was a single mother with two young daughters, no degree, and no significant work experience.

I took every opportunity that came my way, working diligently and excelling in each role. Eventually, I became a legal assistant at a law firm. One of our clients, who owned a credit card processing company similar to SecureStream, noticed my dedication and offered me a business development manager position. Despite my lack of experience, he encouraged me, saying, “You just do what you do, and we’ll teach you everything else.” I accepted the role, successfully secured contracts, and built strong relationships. Within a year, I was promoted to executive leadership.
When I left that business, I pivoted into commercial furniture. About six months after I started in commercial furniture renting, the pandemic hit. I was hit with an ironic, vulnerable situation: I was renting out office furniture and there was no one in the office. Still, I got creative and was still able to achieve my goals for 2020. Whenever someone is in times of stress, I encourage them to take a step back, breathe, and analyze the situation at hand. That is exactly what I did: I took a step back to see what was going on in the market. One thing I found was that there was still construction going on in Nashville, and so I was able to still achieve my business goals for that year and became a top producer in the country for the company. I was then recruited to sell office furniture and quickly became a top producer in the country for that company as well. I worked with integrity and diligence, and it paid off: I was then approached by investors in my network with the opportunity to run and rebrand a credit card processing company they were looking to acquire. They knew about my history & success in the credit card processing industry and the success I had at the other companies.
Today, I am deeply grateful for every leader who believed in me and for the challenges that have shaped my journey. Having overcome significant adversity, I am committed to paying it forward by inspiring and empowering as many people as possible, especially women.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were many obstacles along the way. As a single mother with limited work experience after spending eight years as a stay-at-home mom, I faced significant challenges. Following my divorce, I needed to find a way to support my daughters and myself without the advantage of a college degree. I worked hard, learned to pivot when necessary, and found a way forward even when the path seemed unclear.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

The one thing I know:
Throughout all the challenges and difficult decisions, I’ve faced in my life, one principle has remained steadfast: I never regret doing the right thing. In every aspect of life, I recognize that while I can’t control others’ actions, I have full control over my own. As long as my decisions stem from integrity and genuine motives, others’ reactions become secondary.
A concrete example of this principle in practice is evident throughout my career in sales and business. Despite opportunities to secure business from clients whose needs didn’t align perfectly with my offerings, I chose transparency over immediate gains. Rather than simply accepting their business, I would honestly convey, “I’d like to work with you, but this particular product may not meet your requirements.” Instead, I invested time in understanding their needs, presenting tailored solutions that truly fit. This approach sometimes led to initial frustration from clients, yet consistently proved beneficial in the long term, earning trust and fostering enduring relationships.

By consistently refusing to compromise on quality and sincerity, I’ve cultivated a robust, dependable network that defines my career today. The dividends of prioritizing integrity may not always seem immediate, but they invariably outweigh any short-term gains. My commitment to helping others find the right solutions underscores the value I place on relationships and demonstrates genuine care.

In essence, I have never regretted staying true to my principles. Upholding integrity in every situation has not only defined my professional journey but has also brought me fulfillment and long-term success.
