Meet Apryl Gibson of Apryl’s Decor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Apryl Gibson.

Hi Apryl, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
We all have a story of how God stepped in and made a way for YOU! I have always had a passion for decorating. In June of 2021, although I was already decorating homes and businesses the clientele was very slow. I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my job of 13 years working at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer. I didn’t have a broad range of clientele but I knew that God would provide and he did right after I left my job I had a consultation that very day.

Soon after the clientele started rolling in. God has never failed me my faith has stood the test and I haven’t missed a beat. I’m not one of those decorators who has a team it’s just my daughter Janyah (15) and myself and we get the job done. We have decorated: businesses, daycares, and entire homes. A lot of my former coworkers have hired me to do their homes and businesses as well, I’m truly grateful for them hiring me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Sometimes self-pity can take a toll on you. It destroys your belief in yourself and in what you can achieve. When you pity yourself you are your own worst enemy. The only way to avoid a life of self-pity is to accept the discipline of faith. Through faith you can do anything so in the setbacks you grow you seek God more you gain wisdom and insight and this too shall pass.

My continued faith in God has never wavered. Sometimes people will have their doubts about you but once you show them the vision, they continue to hire you room after room. The key is to show yourself worthy of the task. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

Apryl’s Decor is an Interior Decorating Business. I specialize in making houses and businesses look and feel more attractive and functional. I love creating a homey aesthetic for homes.

While I didn’t go to school for decorating my passion for it shows in the rooms that I revamp and the excitement on my client’s faces. One thing I told myself this year it’s your season to be blessed God made you a promise you stood the test. He’s going to open up windows and pour you out a blessing. It’s your season to be blessed! When you have a relationship with God it opens your life to new beginnings!
