Meet Cheryl Hayes of Blue Haze Farms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Hayes.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My husband and I bought a farm in 2019. We decided to start raising exotic cattle. We initially chose miniature Texas Longhorns with a plan to branch out to miniature Highland cattle.

One of my best friends enlightened me about the “glamping/yurt world” so we decided to branch out to include unique farm stays on our farm. Our farm is named “Blue Haze Farms” because my maiden name is Hays, and my married name is Hayes so we decided that including “Haze” in our farm name fit perfectly for our family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a challenge! Our county didn’t have specific ordinances relating to farm stays; however, our state totally recognized “camping/glamping” as an agritourism activity on a farm!

Our farm is registered with the State of Mississippi’s Agritourism program, which is a great program to help local farmers promote their farms as well as allow citizens that may not have access to farms to enjoy farm life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Blue Haze Farms, LLC?
