Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney “Sheba” Minter.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My determination for success started at an early age. I had a knack for performing but decided to join the military and attend college at the University of Memphis. There I met my husband and gained a bachelor’s degree in social work. Afterwards, I worked as a case worker and became a mother. Though I thoroughly enjoyed working with the public, I still had the desire to chase my dream career. This inspired me to begin entrepreneurship and my acting career. In 2020, I opened a food truck called Hot Potato’z and started snagging several acting roles. I’ve been featured in several stage plays and films with one (Pre-op) earning a Telly Award. The years of acting and performing inspired me to explore the world behind the camera. I began writing and wrote what would be my first movie called His Target. The film is a success and is set be on most streaming platforms soon. Currently, I am gearing up to film my next movie called Set Up To Fall.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Balancing work and home schedules. Being a wife and mom always comes first.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in acting and have been featured in several stage plays and films. One of the (short) films, called Pre-Op, won a Telly Award among many others. Other films that are available on most streaming services are called Scammer, A Cold Heart Christmas, and Black Girl Big City to name a few. Some stage plays include The Blind Man, Who Dropped You, and Can You Stand The Reign where I acted as lead.
I’m most proud for having the courage to write and produce my own movie, His Target. I look forward to producing many more.
What sets me apart from others is my determination. When I have a plan, I execute and let nothing or anyone stop me.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I predict a rise in independently filmed movies.
