Meet Danisha Hill of MEMPHIS/NORTH MS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danisha Hill

Hi Danisha , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Danisha, a finance professional, entrepreneur, and children’s book author. My journey into skincare began from a personal challenge – finding the right products for my skin type and wanting to feel confident and comfortable in my own skin. I started experimenting with natural ingredients I already had at home, creating a routine that worked for me, and sharing my progress online. It wasn’t until a friend responded to one of my posts, asking when I would start selling my products, that the idea for my business truly took root. During my maternity leave amid the COVID pandemic, I dedicated a year to research, product developments, and strategic planning alongside my youngest sister, Takyra, who is part owner in Park Avenue Beauty Co. Armed with a bachelor’s degree in Finance, a master’s in Business Administration, and over six years of corporate finance experience, I was able to fund and make informed, strategic decisions for my business. These foundations have played a key role in helping me grow and evolve in this entrepreneurial journey. Becoming a new mom was a major factor as well. I wanted to ensure that the products I used were not only effective but also natural and gentle enough for both myself and my baby. It was important to me to create skincare solutions that I could trust for my own family, and the focus of safe, natural ingredients became a core value.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges. The process has been one of trial and error, with both positive and negative feedback shaping the way forward. Trusting in God has played a key role in keeping me grounded and motivated during the ups and downs. I’ve learned to embrace the constructive criticism, using it to refine my products and processes, which has ultimately made the business stronger. Managing the business hasn’t always been easy either, especially with the ebb and flow of slow weeks followed by extremely busy ones. Juggling the demands of business, work, being a first time mom, and personal life has been a balancing act. Despite the saturation in the beauty and skincare market, I stay motivated by knowing there is always room for authenticity, quality, and passion. I believe in the uniqueness of my products and my story, and that drives me to keep pushing forward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my professional career, I specialize in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). Beyond my corporate expertise, I’m deeply passionate about helping others with their personal finances, guiding them toward stability and empowerment.

In addition to launching Park Avenue Beauty Co., I published a children’s book: SEE IT. BELIEVE IT. ACHIEVE IT, as a way to inspire my daughter and other children and even adults to believe in themselves and their potential, no matter how they look or where they come from. The book encourages children to understand that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. It emphasizes that success doesn’t have just one path – it can come from many directions, and it is important to follow what feels right for them. I also want to challenge social norms and beauty standards, showing children they don’t have to fit a certain image to be successful. On each page, a child is shown aspiring to a profession, and the following page shows them as an adult who has achieved their dream. I made sure to include examples of both my finance career and my success in the skincare business to show my daughter how I have been able to thrive in both areas. I want her to grow up knowing that she, too, can succeed in whatever path she chooses, whether it’s in a traditionally male-dominated field or her own unique journey. It has also inspired me during those moments I consider a complete career shift. All I have to do is see the vision, believe I can achieve it, & go for it, right? (Books can be purchased on Amazon, Books-A-Million, and several other book retailers.)

What I’m most proud of is my drive and ambition. I’ve faced challenges and experienced both brief successes and delayed accomplishments, but I always reach the goals I set for myself at some point. I focus on doing what works for best for me and my family, while also creating value for others whether it’s through my skincare business or another organization I’m rebranding for community outreach, or in the professional space. My aim is to contribute to others’ happiness, success and well-being as well as my own when possible. What sets me apart is my resilience and determination. I’ve encountered many setbacks over the years, but each time, I’ve come back stronger. My fight, faith, and trust in God are what carry me forward, and I am grateful for every lesson and opportunity to grow.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see the skincare industry continuing to shift toward more natural and sustainable products. People are becoming increasingly conscious of the ingredients they use, not just for their skin but also for the environment. For my business, my goal is to continue evolving with current trends while staying true to the core values of natural, gentle products. Ultimately, I would love to see my brand expand into a physical storefront. I look forward to creating a space that offers not just skincare solutions but also a sense of community through personal consultations and interactions with our customers.
