Meet Dominic Robinson of Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Robinson

Hi Dominic , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a funny guy. I started writing doing something called “Friday Wrap Up” on facebook. It became a thing. One day someone said I should start doing videos of it. I did that too with the help of my friend William Chapman of Willatainment. We dropped them. I started working at a different location for work. Folks thought my vids were funny and a young man named Curtis said he wanted to do vids too. Eventually, Off The Porch Group was born. We started making all types of funny videos, skits, and sketches. Many people said we were hilarious. That led to multiple people asking if we would ever do stand-up comedy. We jumped in that too. My two friends, who are really like brothers to me, have taken a break. Life happens. I’m still hitting the stage when I can. I love it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been easy. Sometimes your worst critic is yourself. When you don’t get the results you want at the speed you want, you can get in your own way. There were times when we had sketches written out, scripts handed out, and days picked out to shoot, and people wouldn’t do right. That can be frustrating sand disheartening.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actor, comedian, writer, and much more. I’m known for my quick wit and my stage name being “hard” to pronounce. That stage name is Eclectic Enigma. I love my name because ot represents me so well. What sets me apart is that I only want to be ME. I don’t want to be compared to anybody else.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Find someone who does what you want to do and just ask them. They can tell you yes or no. Embrace the yes and understand the no.
