Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Amelia & Pastor Danny Cole.
Dr. Amelia & Pastor Danny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our story really begins with us—Danny and Amelia—as a couple learning firsthand that marriage takes more than love; it takes healing, intentionality, and faith. Early in our relationship, we experienced both the fairytale beginning and seasons of struggle that nearly broke us. But it was in those broken places that God met us, surrounded us with community, and began a real work of restoration in our marriage.
As we walked through healing together, we discovered that our pain became our platform. Out of that experience, Marriage Oneness Outreach Ministries was born—a nonprofit dedicated to helping couples move from ‘roommates to soulmates’ through faith-based tools, practical coaching, and real-life transparency.
What started as our testimony has now grown into a movement. Today, we serve couples through our Pursuit of Passion book and workbook, the PASSION Framework™ , workshops, retreats, podcasts, and coaching. Together, we offer both the pastoral and the academic—Danny as a pastor and Amelia as an educator—blending spirituality and practicality to help couples rediscover passion, unlock intimacy, and experience lasting fulfillment.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Early in our marriage, we went through what we now call our ‘personal Egypt.’ While living in Fort Worth, our relationship was marked by drinking, smoking, infidelity, and unhealed wounds that nearly tore us apart. When we later moved to Atlanta, God placed us in a strong church community where we began to heal spiritually and emotionally. Yet even then, intimacy wasn’t automatic. For years, we carried rigid teachings about the marriage bed that left us unfulfilled—until a sexual healing conference gave us a breakthrough and a resurrection in our intimacy.
Those struggles became the foundation for the tools we now share with other couples through our PASSION Framework™ . It’s a pathway that teaches couples to rediscover their Purpose, grow in Awareness, love through Service, Seek Intimacy on every level, make intentional Investments, cultivate true Oneness, and continually Nurture their relationship with grace.
We don’t just teach this as theory—we’ve lived it. Every letter in PASSION represents part of our journey from brokenness to healing. And that’s why we can confidently say to the couples we serve: even in the darkest places, passion can be reignited and marriages can be restored.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
For Dr. Amelia: My childhood was marked by both pain and resilience. My mom passed away when I was eleven, and my father was a very hard and abusive man during my early years. Who later, after my mom’s death, became the most loving father. While my siblings and mother endured physical abuse growing up, mine was mostly emotional—which still left me with a broken spirit and searching for love in all the wrong places. But even in that brokenness, God had His hand on me. I’ll never forget the day at Memphis State University, lying in the study room of Rawls Hall dormitory, devastated by heartbreak and crying out to the Lord, ‘Save me!’ In that moment, the peace of God filled my heart, and I knew what I had to do. That Sunday, I went to church and publicly gave my life to Christ. That decision changed everything—it gave me hope, purpose, and the foundation of faith I now live and lead from. Growing up, I carried both the scars of emotional abuse and the strength of surrender, and those experiences shaped my deep compassion for others who are hurting.
For Danny:
Growing up, I was extremely active, adventurous, and barely afraid of anything or anyone. I wasn’t shy at all and was always inquisitive, sometimes finding myself in situations that others couldn’t quite understand—but for me, it was all joy. My interests were simple but life-giving: playing the drums, dancing, and running around the neighborhood with friends in endless games of hide-and-seek. My childhood was amazing to me because no matter the circumstances, I made every single situation interesting and enjoyable.
Together:
Though our upbringings were very different, they both shaped who we are today. Amelia’s early trials gave her deep empathy and unshakable faith, while Danny’s adventurous spirit and joyful outlook gave him energy and resilience. Those qualities still balance and complement each other in our marriage and ministry today.
