Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Forman.
Emily, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since I was a little girl I have loved beautiful interiors. It’s all I ever remember.
So naturally I got my degree in interior design! I then interned in Los Angeles under Philip Nimmo, a well known residential designer. Once I moved back to the South I worked at an architecture firm doing commercial design. I longed for residential work so I founded Moda in 2009 where I began doing interior design in my home town of New Albany, MS! In 2023 my business partner, Tabatha Coker, and I opened our second location in Southaven to be closer to our growing Memphis clientele.
I love to bring spaces alive for my clients by getting to know them and incorporating their style and personality. Classic design is important so clients can live in and love their spaces forever, but I also bring a unique touch to homes to make it special for each client.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Any small business owner will tell you it’s never smooth! There are ebbs and flows and that’s always hard to deal with! Ultimately we love what we do!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in residential interior design, and I believe have really built our brand. I can go in places and they’ll say “there’s Moda” which I think is very cool and funny. Instagram has really helped build our business and get our name out there. Clients can see what we do, and if they like it they book us. It really is that easy. We make the design process so easy and fun! We are also very quick which is not common in our profession. “Seamless” is what a recent client used to describe us and I loved that.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Any memories with my friends or family are good. I’m blessed there.

- Our highest package is currently $5000 for selecting finishes
- We only select items, furniture, lighting, accessories, etc, for our clients that we sell.
