Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Mcdonald.
Hi Erica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hmm… that’s a loaded question! I’ve ridden horses my whole life but took a break due to a family tragedy.
When I finally made my way back to the horse world, I was a tad rusty. So I used my resources and joined Fallon Taylor’s online coaching group called HorseBoss. The group is so supportive and the tips&tricks Fallon has to offer are so helpful.
It’s no secret that horses and competition are expensive so I then again used my resources to figure out a way to make ends meet financially.
I have always loved modeling and creating content for viewers. It was basically a process of “fake it til you make it”. About two years of me buying my own product and modeling them on Instagram before companies took me seriously and actually reached out to me.
I love the companies I represent and have/will turn down companies that do not align with my true self. I think it’s really important to never be a sell-out.
So here I am. “Hey look Ma, I made it!” Lol.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Far from smooth! Basically a road full of potholes!
For competition- horses can be so humbling! They have moods and feelings just like us so they don’t always perform their best. Trucks break down. Trailer tires blow out. The weather is too hot, too cold, or it’s pouring rain.
For modeling or online advertising/influencing – self-doubt is HEAVY! Comparison is heavy. I have to constantly remind myself that I am enough and they found me. Otherwise, I run short on inspiration.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Outside of horses, I am an Instagram Influencer. It’s not my favorite title, but it’s a fun job.
Basically, it’s exactly as it sounds. I model clothes or products on Instagram from companies you may be unfamiliar with. I usually can offer discount codes and I am open to answering questions as far as sizing, quality, and how long shipping may take!
I am most proud of the fact that I do most of this with my phone and a tripod. I sometimes use a self-timer. Or I use my Bluetooth remote.
What sets me apart from others is I am never afraid to put my own twist on things! I have had just about every hair color- including colors like purple, red, pink, and blue. I also post only true authentic content! I will never share a company with you that I do not fully support!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is progress. It’s constantly moving forward no matter how slow or fast. It’s never giving up.
1% each day adds up to 100% in 100 days.
