Meet Fernanda Aceves of JOY IGNITEPR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernanda Aceves.

Hi Fernanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you much for this opportunity to share my story with you.

I am the founder and CEO of JOY IGNITEPR. I was born in Mexico City and raised by a strong mother who worked hard in the corporate world all her life. Growing up, I was always the one planning events and trips to bring people together. From a young age, I knew I wanted to travel the world. Being a communicative, outgoing, and attentive young girl, speaking 4 languages allowed me to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds and develop greater opportunities.

Until recently, I never thought I would one day launch my own international digital marketing and PR company. I received my bachelor’s degree in Hotel Business Management at Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in 2013, and moved to Paris to pursue my master’s at the Sorbonne in Luxury Business Administration, after graduating I found a job in my professional field as a Revenue Manager Assistant at the Hotel Du Louvre, Paris. In 2015, I moved back to Mexico City and got my first job as PR & Event Manager in one of the leading venues in Mexico City, managing events for several brands such as ROLEX, La Roche Posay, Google, and Microsoft.

In 2016, I landed at Montblanc, the luxury goods company of the Richemont Group, as Business Developer Coordinator. After a year in this role, I was promoted to PR and Event Coordinator for Mexico and LATAM. This opportunity brought out my inner creative giant as I worked closely with media partners, celebrities, and influencers to ensure seamless alignment of messaging throughout the various launch series and campaigns. When 2020 arrived and the pandemic broke out, a new opportunity arose amidst the uncertainty, and I took on a new role as Head of Social Media and PR at HOLA! The USA.

For 2 years, I was responsible for content creation strategy and execution for 6 social media channels, as well as red carpet coverage at the Latin Grammys, Latin Billboards, multiple award shows, and fashion summits. I have published more than 25 articles on lifestyle, fashion, and entertainment conducted several interviews with some of the hottest Latin celebrities and attended over 30 concerts in one year. I am not going to lie, it was fun while it lasted!

Eventually, some people I knew started reaching out to me for advice on their social media. At that point, when I had a list of exciting projects lined up, I felt it was the right time to start Joy IgnitePR and focus 100% on my business.

Some of my biggest clients today include Menudo “A New Beginning”, Mexico Fashion Show, Costa Rica Fashion Week, and Two Rodeo Drive.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Let’s be honest here, Entrepreneurship is no easy road. It is challenging and requires immense hard work and commitment to succeed. You will have to wear multiple hats and make major sacrifices, but it is also so rewarding. There are so many things that I am still discovering and will probably always continue to learn about.

After 8+ years in the corporate world, I was terrified of giving up a steady income for something that was not as consistent in this fast-paced industry where everyone considers themselves an influencer/content creator and new platforms and tools pop up every day. From creating pitches to managing them, from setbacks to deadlines, it can all get to be a bit much in the beginning.

My biggest fear was myself and the constant thought, “What if it fails?” The constant self-doubt always screams at you. When I started Joy IgnitePR in 2022, I already had a few clients, but they were short-term projects, which led to a constant feeling of insecurity. I knew I had the knowledge and the will to succeed, but deep down I felt so insecure about the responsibility it takes to make the right decisions and develop the right strategies to help my clients achieve their goals. This is a partnership, and if they succeed, it means my work is on the right track.

I began to gain more confidence as my work results spoke for themselves. I could see the rewards of my life balance with more people contacting me and encouraging me. Furthermore, I knew if I stayed true to my principles and passion for what I do, more and more clients would come. The best advice I have received so far is, “If you do not try, you will never know if you have it in you”.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At JOY IGNITEPR. We are a data-driven, next-generation digital media marketing agency and PR strategists focused on the entertainment, fashion, and lifestyle industries. Our goal is to create big, insight-driven ideas and strategies that inspire and connect brands and their audiences to action. We try to consistently build bridges and deliver fully detail-oriented work while developing a results-oriented strategy for each of our clients.

You may think you need to be present on every platform or in all media, but that’s not true. The important thing is to tailor your content to the right platforms at the right time. Everything we do is based on knowing your target audience. Our team specializes in creating content for social media that adds meaningful value, sparks conversations, engages your audience, and builds a growing fan base.

Our services are designed to make your brand stand out in a world flooded with confusing messages and fast-moving, multiplying platforms. We specialize in detail-oriented strategies because we know that the little things matter when it comes to your message and your connections.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to our clients and our understanding of the demands of the global marketplace. Not only that, we are responsive, flexible, results-oriented, and have excellent customer service.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The future of digital marketing and PR is difficult to predict as it is constantly changing to meet the needs of users.

The customer experience (CX) is becoming increasingly important. Many consumers are willing to pay more for goods and services if they receive a high-quality experience, rather than just paying for companies that offer the lowest price. Companies are noticing how much their customers are using messaging apps. For many people, it’s a natural progression to communicate with brands in the same way they communicate with their friends and family, regularly using WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat… etc.

For a brand strategy in the next 5 years, I would say that omnichannel marketing is a priority you should consider.

This means that you should use all your channels to create a consistent experience for each customer. If you believe that email marketing is going to disappear just like traditional media, I am sorry to tell you that it’s not.

Personalizing your marketing emails and your media choices will help you improve their effectiveness. Some of our clients are now using AI to create individual and customized emails for specific customers and improve search engine optimization.

Last but not least, let us not forget the metaverse, which includes live entertainment, social networks, hardware, user-generated content, and technology infrastructures. It’s a shared virtual space where megatrends converge. As people spend more and more time in the metaverse, the boundary between the real and virtual worlds is becoming increasingly blurred.
