Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Seward.
Hi Isaiah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The first thing I was passionate about was music and that eventually led me to acting when a friend suggested I try it out at a concert we’d just done in NY. There were a lot of people I met in acting classes, auditions, and on set that gave good advice and taught me things even if they didn’t realize it at the time. So listening to the right people was big for me. I had the opportunity to learn improv at UCB and Magnet Theater with a bunch of great teachers and coaches. And I’ve been a part of television shows and films that my family and friends watch. But I think all of it starts with finding a community of good people to grow with and saying yes to the moment.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Professionally there were a lot of bumps in the road but I’ve also been very fortunate. I didn’t even know how to start the process of making it a career. Getting used to the rejection rate and the amount of work it takes to be an actor wasn’t something I understood at first. But performing on stage or on set with other actors makes it worth it. There’s can be pressure to get better, meet the right people, and stand out. It’s easy to lose yourself by chasing those things. That might be the most important part. As long as you stay grounded and keep learning and working to get better you don’t notice the bumps in the road as much.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Versatility is one of the things that set me apart from others. I’m an actor, producer, and musician and depending on the day I could be working with any one of those skills. Blue 82 Productions finished a new film called Alone and it’s one that I’m really proud of. It’s starting in the festival circuit and I’m excited to see the response.
