Meet Jacob Klaven of Magnivents

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Klaven.

Hi Jacob, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Magnivents started as a passion project rooted in my love for capturing memories. I noticed at events that people were always taking photos, but they rarely got printed keepsakes anymore. I wanted to bring back that tangible, lasting memory in a fresh, exciting way.

In 2019, I founded Magnivents with the idea of creating instant, high-quality photo magnets at events — something guests could physically take home and keep on their fridge, locker, or workspace. I started small, learning everything from sourcing the right materials to perfecting the on-site setup for maximum guest experience.

Over time, through word of mouth and a strong focus on customer service, we grew to serve all types of events — from weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs to corporate parties and nonprofit galas. I expanded our offerings to include custom frames, branding for companies, and even an audio guestbook service to capture voice memories at events.

Today, Magnivents continues to evolve, we have done everything from a small backyard birthday party to parties for prominent CEOs and politicians, but at our core, we are still about helping people hold onto their best memories — literally. It’s been an incredible journey of learning, growth, and creativity.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many event-based businesses, Covid hit us really hard. Practically overnight, events were canceled, gatherings were put on hold, and the business came to a complete standstill.

I had to make the extremely difficult decision to let go of our team, which was heartbreaking, and essentially put Magnivents on pause. For a while, it wasn’t clear if we would even survive.

When events slowly started coming back, I had to rebuild the business almost from scratch — reworking our services to be more flexible, focusing even more on private events, and re-earning customer trust in a new environment. It was a tough period, but it also taught me a lot about resilience, adaptability, and focusing on what really matters: delivering a meaningful, personal experience for our clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Magnivents is all about capturing memories in a way that’s personal, meaningful, and lasting. We specialize in providing instant, on-the-spot photo magnets at events — our photographer roams the event capturing real moments, and within minutes, guests have a high-quality custom magnet they can take home.

We also offer customized frames, branded designs for corporate events, and an audio guestbook service where guests can leave voice recordings instead of just signing a traditional book. It’s all about creating lasting keepsakes that feel fresh, interactive, and deeply personal.

What sets us apart is the quality of the final product and the experience we create at the event. We blend into the celebration rather than distracting from it, allowing people to have fun while we capture genuine moments they’ll actually want to display on their fridge, locker, or office. Many guests tell us they still have their Magnivents photos years later — and that’s exactly the kind of lasting impression we aim for.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Magnivents is associated with joy, memories, and personalized service. We aren’t a big box service or a one-size-fits-all setup — we customize each event to fit the personality of the host and their guests.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think the next 5–10 years in the event and memory-capture industry will be all about innovation and experience. Guests don’t just want a typical photo anymore — they want something interactive, personal, and memorable.

At Magnivents, our custom photo magnets are already a unique keepsake you don’t see everywhere, but we know that staying ahead means constantly pushing the limits of what we offer. We’re always looking for ways to innovate — whether that’s through new designs, interactive guest experiences like our audio guestbook, or finding fresh ways to blend technology with keepsake creation.

The big shift I see coming is a greater demand for more personalized, immersive event experiences. It won’t be enough to just offer a service; people will expect something that feels tailored to their event and that helps tell their story.
