Meet Laurie Wood of Bartlett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurie Wood.

Hi Laurie , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted to learn more about photography. Once I had my first child, I knew I had to learn how to take amazing pictures because I wanted to photograph my own children. I met Becky Mitchell through a mutual friend and she encouraged me and taught me how to use my camera. With lots of practice as a “momtog,” I knew I wanted to share this gift with others; thus, Laurie Wood Photography came to fruition.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning how to use my camera was a huge challenge! I really wasn’t confident in my own abilities to learn something new. However, by learning one thing at a time and practicing every new skill, I was able to grow this talent. I’m so thankful for the people who believed in me and encouraged me to keep going. My husband was there to cheer me along every step of the way!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love working with families! Family photography brings me so much joy. I feel like being a photographer is so much more than just taking photos. Any time I’m working, I’m connecting with people and building relationships. The experience and memories made during a session are equally as important as the photos captured.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
So many things make me happy!! I love being a wife to my husband and a mom to my three children. Fulfilling this role in life is my first calling and even when life gets busy, I always know they are my number one priority. On a more relaxing note, a good hammock swing and some sunshine can always bring a smile to my face!
