Today we’d like to introduce you to Marciana Jones.
Hi Marciana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always wanted to be in healthcare, just not as a clinician; therefore I have held various nonclinician and administrative roles.
I became certified as a Medical Coder in 2018, professionally and financially, and it changed my life. For two years, I extensively focused on mastering my skills. I wanted to extend the same opportunity to someone, so in 2020, I started teaching medical coding.
Today, I am not only a Certified Medical Coder, but I am also a healthcare consultant to various billing companies, a Physician Educator at a Fortune 500 healthcare organization and I am the president of the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) Atlanta chapter.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There definitely have been challenges along the way but my motto is “every problem has a solution”, therefore challenges have never been a major obstacle. I know I have to remain consistent and focused on the goal.
We’ve been impressed with Allied Health Prep Academy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Allied Health Prep Academy, we offer medical coding courses, career development workshops, and preparatory coding exam classes. Medical Coding is universal, therefore, globally we adhere to the same policies and rules surrounding medical coding.
I specialize in assisting people elevated professionally and increasing their skill sets and salaries. I am known for pointing people in the direction of major professional and educational opportunities.
Medical coders with entry-level experience have the potential to make $40K-$50K, and Nurses who obtain medical coding credentials have the potential to earn 6 figures without performing bedside responsibilities.
What sets me apart is not only do I gain you to become a certified medical coder, I assist with career development and job searches; a one-stop shop. My courses are 11 weeks and cost $750 total with payment plans available.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people will be surprised to know that my coding career started as late as 2017, which was only 5 years ago.
