Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos Sierra.
Marcos, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in a small town in Mexico, raised by a hardworking family that taught me two things early: discipline and faith. At eight years old, I crossed into the United States with nothing but hope and the belief that a better life was possible. I grew up working tough jobs most people don’t see—fields, factories, kitchens—anything that put food on the table.
Those years shaped me. They taught me humility, grit, and the value of every dollar. I wasn’t supposed to be a CEO. I wasn’t supposed to build companies. But I learned quickly that in America, if you’re willing to outwork everyone, tell the truth, and take care of people, opportunity opens.
What started as small roofing labor jobs became the foundation for Sierra Group Roofing & Solar, Sierra Investment Group, and Maverick Metals, now multi-industry companies creating jobs across Arkansas. My work has taken me from climbing roofs in the heat to speaking on national stages, being featured on magazine covers, and helping other contractors build their own success stories.
But the mission is bigger than business. I’m raising three boys to understand that our family’s story started with struggle, sacrifice, and faith—and that they now carry the responsibility to build even more. I invest in my community, mentor entrepreneurs, and stay committed to proving one truth:
If a kid who crossed the border at eight can build an eight-figure business, then someone reading this today can build their own path too.
My story isn’t about roofing.
It’s about resilience, opportunity, and the belief that your starting point never defines your finish line.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. Nothing about my road has been smooth. I came to this country as an eight-year-old immigrant who didn’t speak the language, didn’t understand the culture, and spent most of my childhood watching my family work jobs that broke their bodies just to survive.
My early years were defined by instability—moving constantly, working young, and trying to navigate life in a country where everything felt foreign. I grew up without financial security, without a roadmap, and without a safety net. Every dollar mattered, every mistake was expensive, and every opportunity had to be earned.
When I entered the roofing and construction industry, the struggles only got harder. I had to learn the trade from the ground up, often as the youngest, lowest-paid worker on the site. I dealt with language barriers, discrimination, and the pressure of supporting my family before I even had a chance to build my own future.
Building my companies came with a different set of obstacles—cash-flow issues, hiring the wrong people, learning how to lead, overcoming burnout, and figuring out how to scale without losing the values that got me here. There were nights I slept in my truck after long jobs. There were weeks where payroll felt impossible. There were moments where quitting would have been easier.
But every struggle sharpened me.
Every obstacle became a skill.
Every setback became a lesson.
I didn’t grow up with privilege, connections, or a blueprint. I built all of this the same way I survived childhood—by outworking everyone, betting on myself, and refusing to let my starting point define my finish line.
If anything, the hard road is what made my success possible. It’s what built my resilience, my discipline, and my perspective. And today, those same lessons guide how I run my businesses, lead my teams, and raise my family.

What Sets Us Apart
Three things define our brand:
Internal Crews & High Standards
We invest heavily in training W-2 installers. This gives us quality control that most contractors cannot match.
Vertical Integration
With our manufacturing company, Maverick Metals, we can produce our own standing seam panels and custom sheet metal. That makes us faster, more consistent, and more cost-effective for clients.
Systems & Accountability
Everything is run through KPIs, job costing, technology, and a clear chain of command. We operate like a true high-performance organization, not a typical roofing company.
What We Are Known For
Industry-leading response times
Detailed reporting with photos and documentation
High-close-rate retail service
Clean job sites and strict safety standards
Transparent pricing, warranties, and communication
Our brand stands for quality, professionalism, and reliability—the kind of contractor you trust on your home, your business, or your multi-million-dollar facility.
What We’re Most Proud Of
I’m proud that Sierra Group represents opportunity. Many of our team members started in entry-level labor roles and grew into leadership, sales, production, and management positions. Our reputation is built on people who take pride in doing things the right way.

If you’re considering a roofing system, a re-roof, maintenance plan, or simply want a clear assessment of your property, Sierra Group is built for that. We’re not just a contractor—we’re a long-term partner for the life of your building.
We don’t cut corners, we invest in safety, and we stand behind every roof with the same mindset that built our company:

What are your plans for the future?
What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
The next chapter for Sierra Group Roofing & Solar is all about scale, vertical integration, and building long-term stability for our clients and our team.
1. Opening Our New Jonesboro Office – March 2025
We’re expanding into Jonesboro to meet the demand of the growing Northeast Arkansas market. This new office will add sales, production, and service capacity, and it positions us to handle larger municipal, industrial, and commercial projects more efficiently.
2. Scaling Our Commercial Division
We are investing heavily in:
Dedicated commercial estimators
A business development team focused on industrial clients
Maintenance and Emergency Response subscription programs
The goal: become the leading commercial roofing contractor across a four-state region.
3. Vertical Integration With Maverick Metals
Our in-house manufacturing arm will continue to expand its standing seam panel production and custom fabrication. This gives us speed, cost control, and design flexibility that most contractors simply cannot offer.
4. Technology, KPIs, and Accountability Systems
We’re rolling out deeper KPI tracking across sales, production, accounting, and service. The future of roofing belongs to companies that run like high-performance organizations—not contractors guessing their way through projects.
5. Expanding Our Real Estate & Government Contract Portfolio
We’re receiving a surge in bid invitations from architects, state agencies, and municipalities. The plan is to build a specialized internal team to execute AIA submittals, prevailing-wage jobs, and large-scale roofing scopes.
6. Workforce Growth & Leadership Development
We’ll continue hiring internal crews, training bilingual leaders, and creating advancement pathways for installers, salespeople, and managers. One of our biggest long-term goals is to build a generational company that creates opportunities for local families.
7. Community Presence & Industry Leadership
We’re leaning further into industry education, Spanish-language training, and giving back to the communities we serve. Speaking on national stages is part of that—but so is being a positive force right here at home.
