Meet Marisha Wallace of The Sacred Space

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisha Wallace.

Marisha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The start of my business started in 2019.

I am a single mother so I was looking for a side hustle to bring extra cash into the home to help with our living expenses. I also wanted to find a creative way to build relationships with women as a way to get them to open up and engage in a conversation so I started brainstorming on things I like and also other women enjoy so that’s how I started my first business Ree’s Lavish Minks.

This lead me to host my first event which opened the door for me to host various other events to bring other business owners together to build those lasting relationships.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is not for the weak Okayyyyyy lol. When I initially started my business I had the thought in my mind that the support wouldn’t be a problem because I just knew my family and friends were going to buy me out but then reality set in, they weren’t my target.

They bought something here and there but it wasn’t what I expected. There are days when sales are pouring in then there are times when I don’t get sales. Rejection is something I’m trying to overcome so for a while I wouldn’t even post anything about my business because I just didn’t like to hear no.

There are times when I questioned even if I heard from God clearly that this is the path He has for me. Word of advice for anyone wanting to start a business, first Pray about it, and on days when you feel like giving up remember why you started in the first place.

On days when I’m feeling weary, these two things keep me going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Sacred Space?
Ministry has always been embedded in me. I love talking about Christ and how he transformed me so what better way than to birth a ministry out of my misery.

My business helps me have engaging conversations with women to talk about their journey and that opens the door for me to share my story and share Jesus. The Sacred Space is tailored to healing the mind body and soul all through the holistic word of God.

I create small intimate spaces for women to let their hair down and talk about the issues of life that may have plagued their minds or body. This helps them know and understand they’re not in this alone.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
A few things I love about my city is how we stick together!

Memphis has some talented people and I’m so glad that I get to share the journey with individuals who had a thought and put it into action. When you get complete strangers pouring into you, encouraging you to keep going and giving you the PUSH you didn’t know you needed is breathtaking.

I choose not to focus on the negative stigma my city may have because the good always outweighs the bad.
