Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into healthcare staffing began with a deep passion for patient care and a desire to create meaningful change in the industry. As a nurse since 2012, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges that healthcare professionals and facilities face: short staffing, burnout, and the struggle to find the right talent to provide quality care. I wanted to build something that not only addressed these issues but also uplifted the professionals dedicating their lives to this work.
That vision led me to start NexCare Medical Staffing, a boutique staffing agency focused on more than just filling shifts. I saw an opportunity to create a company that fosters true partnerships with healthcare facilities while also supporting and inspiring professionals to lead at a higher level. Unlike larger agencies that often lack a personal touch, I wanted NexCare to be built on integrity, quality, and a deep understanding of both the facility’s needs and the healthcare professional’s career goals.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all, but every challenge has been a valuable part of the journey. Transitioning from nursing to the business side of healthcare has been one of the biggest shifts for me. In nursing, systems and protocols are already in place. In business, I had to create everything from the ground up such as building processes, learning legal requirements, and figuring out how to operate efficiently.
Accessing the right information was another challenge. Healthcare staffing involves strict compliance, contracts, and regulations, but this knowledge isn’t always easy to find. I had to seek mentors, attend industry events, and invest time into understanding every piece to ensure NexCare was built on a solid foundation.
Unlike a 9-to-5, where structures are set, running a business means constantly refining systems as you go. There were moments of trial and error, but every challenge has strengthened my ability to lead and grow. Despite the obstacles, this journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m proud of the impact NexCare is making in the industry.
