Meet Michael Ivy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Ivy.

Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I suppose my musical career started around the time I was 12 years old. My mother enrolled me in piano classes during middle school and I was also in the concert band in my school.

That’s where my love for music began. After I turned 14 and got my first laptop, I delved into the world of electronic production. I’ve been producing music and working/collaborating with various artists and labels ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the first hurdles I faced was finding a community for the work I was doing. I believe that this made me more critical of who I release my music with. Growing up in the south has brought about its own struggles with maintaining the public’s attention to a genre of music that is not very prominent in this region of America.

I had to become creative and implement a realistic way to gain backing in my city with my music.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a multi-faceted electronic artist from Memphis, TN with a wide range of production and music creation techniques. I was classically trained on the piano at age 12 and growing up listening to house, techno, footwork, and club music, I have found a soundscape in which he has been able to blend deep, lush melodies with crisp, forward electronic production.

How do you define success?
Success is completion. Knowing that you yourself have no other personal goals to accomplish because you have done everything you have set out to do. That is true success.
