Today we’d like to introduce you to Quodarrius Toney.
Hi Quodarrius, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I can remember driving with my mom, many years ago, and telling her how I would be a doctor one day, to which she responded “You know what? I’m going to hold you to that.”
From that moment forward, I became intent on fulfilling that proclamation. Not just for myself, but for my family and community. I also realized I had a strong affinity for aesthetics and artistry. Through the wealth of opportunities and enriching education I was exposed to at Howard University, I found a way to marry all my interests into one career path. After graduating from undergrad, I chose to continue my studies at my alma mater’s College of Dentistry to become a cosmetic dentist.
Since earning my DDS, I am truly blessed to lead the career I have had thus far, and I look forward to expanding my practice to Atlanta this upcoming year.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. However, I am thankful for the bumps I have encountered along my journey.
Without them, I would not be the man I am today.
One distinct struggle, that I continue to battle, is balance. As the first doctor in my family to enter a field where there are few others who look like me, I became hyper-focused on working twice as hard just to be able to enter the medical field, let alone bring my childhood dream to fruition. I remember studying and working with virtually no rest, thinking that was the only way to achieve my goals. However, I have since realized how imperative it is to balance hard work with intentional reprieve.
For me, that can look like spending time with my family, close friends, and loved ones; getting in the gym or playing tennis; and taking moments to be still and further ground myself in my faith. Although I continue to work twice as hard, I make time for rest no matter if it is an hour or a few days. This is what allows me to recharge and continue on in achieving all I set out to do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Essential Toothbrush Co.?
In addition to being a cosmetic dentist, I established a toothbrush company in 2020, with the goal to provide oral hygiene essentials to all. Essential Toothbrush Company stands on the premise of a sleek, modern, futuristic, minimalist vibe. This toothbrush was created to give all people the chance to ensure that oral health essentials are met. Based on the premise of my company, we are responsible for providing every person with an essential toothbrush.
We began with our Whitening Kits and Go GREEN Initiative, offering biodegradable black and white toothbrushes with charcoal-infused bristles. Since our launch, we have expanded to electric toothbrushes as part of our Mint Collection. All products have the option of a subscription service, where each customer pays a monthly fee and in return, receives a new toothbrush every 90 days, as recommended by the American Dental Association.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My faith. For every lesson learned and goal accomplished, I thank God for the stones he set to lead my path. I have become accustomed to praying about everything and worrying about nothing, which has become a key to my success.
