Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruggera N. Russell.
Ruggera, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello everyone, My name is Ruggera N. Russell. I am from a small town called Lexington, MS. I recently moved to Southaven, MS. To expand my businesses and pursue better opportunities for my children and myself. I am the owner of Nashay’s Giftedhands and Perfectly Imperfect Wig Collection.
I started working for myself back in 2014. I must say this has been a challenging journey but it has been well worth it. I’ve always said coming through high school I wanted to style hair and one day open a salon. Well, I graduated from high school back in 2006 as a mother of one. I enrolled in cosmetology school in 2007 was pregnant with my second child, before I enrolled the instructor had asked was I pregnant I stated no because, at that time I wanted it so badly. I got half way to the finish line and then boom it was time to have my baby girl.
After I had her I didn’t go back. I said I needed to work to make ends meet for myself and my kids. so, I ended up getting a job. I got fired from my job back in 2013 a few days before Christmas, I felt like my world had shattered. so, then I realized that “GOD” closes one door to open another one. I enrolled back in 2014. I graduated, challenged the board, and received my Cosmetology License. I worked in a shop with someone then I opened up my own salon. 2019, I enrolled in Barber College, graduated challenged the board and received my Barber license.
2020, I decided I wanted to come from behind my chair full time so I became a Cranial Prosthesis Specialist (medical wig specialist). The in-between times I still did other things. I opened a boutique. I received other certifications, so on and so forth. I am where I am today because of the “GOD” I serve and my determination to succeed. I put in the work and I am still putting in the work and I am forever grateful and thankful that I was put in the position I am in today.
I can’t complain and I want to complain and I know that he’s not done with me yet.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I have gained, I have lost, I have been discouraged, I still get discouraged, I still want to give up at times, and I still struggle, yes it’s hard.
But if we don’t experience the bad apples, we will never be able to appreciate the good ones. We have to always remember it gets hard before it gets easy but as long as we keep “GOD” first and keep the faith, everything will eventually align.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Nashay’s Giftedhands (Hair Studio, Weave Bar, and Boutique) is my big baby. Where it all started as I stated in the previous paragraph. I am a licensed cosmetologist, I am a versatile stylist, I specialize in natural hair, weaves, haircutting, and wigs. I am known for my gifted hands and just being able to make all the beautiful ladies look and feel more beautiful after I have served them.
Perfectly Imperfect Wig Collection is a provider establishment that provides hair prosthesis (medical wigs) for individuals who are suffering from hair loss due to medical diagnosis or medical treatments (alopecia, chemotherapy, radiation, etc). We accept medical insurance as a form of payment “ Remember You Are Not Your Hair.”
What sets me apart from others. I would say my focus, my positive attitude is some of my biggest assets, persistence, self-motivation, determination, and integrity. I am proud of my work and how far I’ve come with my brands, and I’m proud of the way I did it.

Seeing others happy makes me happy. Good health, positive thinking, and gratitude. Why?? Because I am around all positive energy and anything positive makes me happy.
