Meet Sada Whitaker of Visionary Leaders Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sada Whitaker.

Hi Sada, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’ve always had a passion to help people. By nature, I am a nurturer and giver! Once I became a mother myself; I saw the lack thereof in the school system which involved early childhood education.

I know that early childhood development and the love for early literacy will put our young children in a position to thrive in excellence. Therefore, I knew I had to play my part in the community by opening a stellar yet high-end childcare facility!

Ideally, my concept is a private school setting meeting the inner city! It has been a pleasure and a joy to serve the community and the Mid-South area! Now I can say, Visionary Leaders Academy, LLC is a pillar in the community and offers an opportunity for young scholars to excel in grade school!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not!!! I open the doors at the beginning of the pandemic! I opened 4 months after COVID-19 demonstrated its presence. I had only 3 families in the program.

Now 2 years later V.L.A. has reached its capacity and has a lengthy waiting list! So yes the beginning was very much so a struggle; however, I’m proud to say we’ve pushed through to the victory lap!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Visionary leaders Academy is not your traditional childcare program. We offer an array of learning areas, a structured setting, clean environment, inviting atmosphere, and nutritious meal plan selections. The Department  of Human Services State of Tennessee has rated our facility as a three star Quality Program!

For instance, if we are teaching our scholars about Health Science: The World of Dentistry. We offer hands on practices, a dental exam room exhibit and we also bring in one of our favorite dentist Dr. Brooke Dishmon, DDS! Dr. Brooke Dishmon, DDS ( Paradigm Dental Care)  offers her time to demonstrate to our scholars exactly what happens in a dental exam room whether patients come in for a routine cleaning or a procedure such as tooth extraction.

V.L.A. is not your traditional childcare program. We offer an array of learning areas, an structured setting, a loving environment, and nutritious meal selections, our program is rated a 3-star program by the State of Tennessee.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I do not have a mentor. However I do admire a few childcare gurus! I absolutely recommend networking, training, seminars and even chatting with colleagues to help ones business to grow!
