Today we’d like to introduce you to Sondra King.
Hi Sondra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Sure! Thank you so much for having me. I started my nutrition journey roughly 10 years ago. I began blogging because I’ve always loved writing and nutrition.
During those years I experienced some health challenges. I suffered badly from migraines, acid reflux, and was informed by my physician that I had hypertension. I didn’t want to be placed on medication. I knew within my soul that I could reverse my diagnosis by changing my diet, exercising, and choosing a healthier lifestyle. Smoothies made that change more functional. I studied different foods and their benefits. I began sharing my smoothies, health tips, and the tools I used to salvage my health with the public.
Nutrition is healing. Food is healing. Life is valuable. You only get blessed with one body, and you should cherish it.
People began responding very positively to my posts, health tips, and smoothie recipes. I’ve dedicated years to researching foods and wellness tips. I’ve practiced them, and I’ve applied them to my daily life. You really are what you eat! I decided to rebrand, relaunch my website, and offer my organic superfood smoothies to all within my local area.
Wholesome nutrition should be available to everyone. I now offer online purchasing for those who want my smoothies. I’m also conducting pop-up shops every week at various locations within Lakeland, Memphis, Bartlett, & Germantown areas. I’ve partnered with numerous well-known Fitness centers, Yoga & Pilates studios such as CycelBar, Stretchlab, HotWorx, Orangetheory, Activate IV, MMDC, Esporta, & Club Pilates.
I want everyone to experience what I’ve learned and apply it to their lives. Good health is vital and necessary. K&B’s name has a very special meaning to me. It represents me and my father. My middle name is Kaye, & my late father’s name was A.B. (B for short) Smooth represents smoothies, and Nutrition covers it all! My father passed away unexpectedly earlier this year due to some health conditions. Upon his passing, he informed me that he would’ve made better health decisions had he known the difference it would have made. He urged me to continue this journey, & I have. I believe that’s another reason for my dedication/drive. Life is short. Smoothies made my life much easier and healthier. Being consistent and including the right ingredients inside them changed my life. And I know it can do the same for others. My mission is to simply help heal and improve health with my smoothies. People are sharing, recommending, posting pics, and informing me of how my smoothies have changed the way they feel. My goal is to introduce & share my smoothies with the world. Helping everyone by blending our way back to better health!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it was definitely not easy! I went through a season where I didn’t think what I had to offer was of any value to anyone. I questioned my decisions on what I was passionate about.
My purpose started to feel less meaningful. My father passed away and we had a very close relationship. I was also in the middle of a huge book project that required a deadline. I had to push through my emotions and focus on my mission. My why, and how I envisioned my life. How I wanted to help others in the process.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m also an author. I’m most proud of myself as an established best-selling author, businesswoman, and entrepreneur. I have a lengthy background history in business/education with the SCS school district. I was a recent co-author in an anthology with Paulette Harper entitled “The Breaking Point” which made Amazon’s #1 best seller. It was also endorsed by Les Brown. I was also featured in the Bartlett Express Newspaper for my chapter in this book.
I recently published my 2nd daily prayer devotion entitled ” My Daily Prayer Vol II” which is currently available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles online, and was also placed inside of The Novel Bookstore, Demoir Books and Things, The Bookmark Bookstore, a local Christian school library, and public library. I’m currently focused on opening my own brick and mortar.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes. Take time for self-care. Value the important things in life. Family, friends, and your mental health/wellness.
Gain peace from within and get to know yourself. Pursue things that bring you joy, fulfillment, and happiness. We all have a purpose & everyone’s journey is different.
