Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Lavern. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Tony Lavern was born for what he’s doing now. Deriving from the great southern city and state of Memphis, TN, this artist is truly one of a kind. And has a unique story to prove it. Struggle and ambition have always been a mixture in the life of Tony. Earlier in life, he was always artistic and had a passion for music, watching tv shows like wrestling and cartoons, playing video games, and playing sports.
He grew up fighting a lot and having to defend himself and others. Now he’s more into the artist side of himself at this point in life. Not having a biological father, or a consistent example of a positive father figure, and coming from an abusive parenting structure was mainly but the inspiration for Tony to seek the highest power for guidance to take the path less taken. But for him, it’s the path he must take to be who he feels he should truly be in life. In reflection, there have been great times in the moments Tony would make with family and friends throughout his life. Many at that. His grandmother was always the center of the family until she passed.
She always kept him reminded to read the bible whenever he went through struggling times. He spent holidays and made great moments with family, hustled, and made music with friends he met. Those friends became like brothers. He smoked marijuana and listened to music every day, in and outside of the home. Moments were made there too. He had a countless amount of women companions in life, and that’s something he feels makes him more distinctive than most men. Life has had ups and downs for Tony. Losing his close cousin two years was one of his toughest losses.
But times that seemed like times of unwanted hardships were understood by Tony to be God’s correction and protection. Times to self-reflect and do more self-work. And times to be more instructed on how to be more self-sufficient. Jail, homelessness, failed relationships, and more was included in Tony’s life struggle. It all was something he grew more intelligent and inner/outer strength from.
He’s now striving to do epic things with his music. Independently of course. Tony truly believes he will make a mark with his music and art. And his story can reach many. Outside of his passions to do music, one of his main passions is to help the less fortunate through charity and donation. Also, help promote information, works, and studies concerning climate change.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a journey. Everything is not so easy or smooth sailing all the time in life. I’ve been through everything from abuse to homelessness to being in jail. I live and I learn. God is the greatest.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I rap, sing, make beats, draw, and write. I’m into painting more than before now. I have my art brand in the works which I’m proud of. As well as my music. I got so much to say. It’s just timing with me. I’m great at what I do.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I really was just a really different kid. I knew I was different. I was smart but in a more natural way. One thing I will say though is I was very misunderstood. And I didn’t really like being mad or sad, but people always judged me as being bad. Or did things to make me feel bad. I was wild and active, so I did certain things that I understand may have made people misjudge me. I was always a cool kid though.
I remember I laughed a lot as a kid. I watched wrestling all the time. I played basketball every day. Played video games. And I read books and stuff. I was pretty active in church and striving to learn more about what was being taught. I liked girls and had lil’ crushes. I was really smart too. This is all like early childhood. As I grew, a lot of things changed for the better. And worse to an extent.
I did a lot more things as I grew, good and some bad. But I survived a lot of my worst days. And I learn from my mistakes. So, I’m grateful to God.
