Meet Tyler Christie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Christie.

Hi Tyler, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
So I am a content creator/social media influencer. I got started by posting on social media and helped to create some of the dancing content trends on the app TikTok. I’ve been doing social media now for about 7 years, and I absolutely LOVE what I do.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I had an older account that blew up and went crazy viral. I gained a following of over 700,000 followers, but sadly it was permanently banned by TikTok. I hate that my main account was banned, but I knew it wasn’t the end. My account was banned for “impersonating a public figure”.

The public figure it was said to be impersonating was me and my backup account. One thing that sucks as far as being on social media is the hate. Everyone gets it all the time, but you can’t let it bother you. Words hurt, but you need to know your worth and know that the things they say are not true.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve attended events such as Playlist Live in Orlando, FL located at the World Center Marriot Hotel. I’ve had the privilege and opportunity to create content with other influencers and big creators as well as brand opportunities and sponsorships. A lot of my close friends say “Tyler you’re famous”. I don’t believe I am, I just think that I am having fun and people like to see that. As far as my following, I try to be as real with my audience as possible. What you see online or on my live streams is the real me. I don’t try to act like someone else online, because that seems pointless and like I’m doing social media for nothing. Usually, I just film videos to have fun and keep up with trends and also to keep my audience engaged.

The best advice I could give to anyone trying to do what I am doing is just to have fun. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Stay consistent and create a schedule to post on. I’ve had amazing opportunities with creators both involved in youtube, TikTok, and Instagram. It’s truly amazing how so many people can come together to support one individual. If you would like to follow me on my socials and follow my journey, my socials are insta @thetylerchristie, TikTok @tyler.christie, Snapchat @tylerchristie71, and my Twitter is @tylerchristie03.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how the city can come together during times of distress and be there for one another. Everyone here in Memphis is very supportive of each other and small businesses. The thing I hate most is overpopulation. There are so many people moving here, and it will cause an issue in the future.
