Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Jones.
Hi Vincent, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a US Army veteran, I transitioned into a career focused on people and networking. Following my military service, I spent time in automotive sales. After being in automotive sales for some time I learned that the business was not for me. I wanted to help people and in that industry sometime you do more hurt than help. I decided to move into property management in 2018. Over the past five years, I have worked my way up from a leasing agent to my current role as a Property Manager. I am passionate about supporting younger professionals and building strong professional networks.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been a road. Sometimes smooth and sometimes very bumpy. It takes time and people believing in you and what you bring to the table. I got in the property management business because i was referred by someone I sold a car to. Someone who believed in me and told me I would be great in it and I am.
When I got in this business I was told it would take me 10- 15 years to be a property manager. I shook my head because after being in a month I knew what I wanted to do the rest of my life. It only took me 5 years to get here but I am here.
It takes a special person to sit behind the desk of a property manager. People come to you and want to live at the place you run. That is a lot of responsibility. Responsibility that I do not take for granted.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bowery Apartments?
I am the property manager at The Bowery Apartments. I aim to make every prospect turn into an applicant and every applicant into a satisfied resident. Now I can not please or help everyone and I understand that but the goal is to be able to touch and help as many people as possible.
What sets me apart from others is simply me. I am unique in with my military experience and background in car sales; I can sit in any room and hold a conversation with anybody about anything. I am a well versed leader and communicator. I take pride in always being available for my staff or residents.
I want everyone to know that at The Bowery we have wonderful plans coming up for the future. The only thing we are missing is you. Come out and tour the property and maybe we can find an apartment home for you.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest mentors are Charles Campbell and Stephanie Assfour. Every step of the way they have had my back and have no problem bringing me down to earth when I am wrong.
Charles was my General Manager when I sold cars. He showed me how to be a leader with how he led every day. He saw something in a 26 year old young man straight out of the military and helped mold me into a savy business man with patience and the ability to lead. He taught me how to lead with patience and by listening. You do not have to be the loudest in the room to be listened to. Whether personal or business he has always been a person I could lean and depend on.
Stephanie was my first property manager. The constant rock I have depended on for help for 7 years. She has taught so many professional lessons. She trained me to be a property manager. Even though I was a leasing agent with a lot of questions she took her time and explained everything to me. Even now if I come across a problem she is the first call. She took a chance on me and now I am one of her success stories. I am forever grateful for her.
