Today we’d like to introduce you to Young Goudie.
Hi Goudie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started out by writing down one-liner about my emotions whether I was angry, sad, or confused. Then, transitioned into battle rapping after that chapter ended, I got obsessed with creating music and songwriting. Originally from the Orange Mound area of Memphis, TN.
My sound, style, and lyricism have multiple and diverse influences such as Cassidy, Dipset, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Lil Wayne, Missy Elliot, Mick Jagger, Young Thug, & more.
Just recently released one of my most attention-seeking projects of 2022 “50 Shades of Bae” it’s driven by a combination of lust, heartbreak, clever lyricism, dark undertone, constant change of flow patterns, & hypnotic melodies’ that have you question what’s your position in someone’s life and vice versa. Uplifted by one of the lead singles of the project “Spend the Night” featuring fellow Memphis artists: Jiggy McFly & Ricky Davaine.
My purpose is to mix rapping ability with sounds that’s never been thought to overlap by pushing the envelope with the not so much typical Memphis style that we are all so used to. Sex appeal, rock & roll, & emotion are the key elements to Young Goudie as an artist, visionary, & legend.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My main struggle was getting the Memphis scene to trust me. Believe In my sound. Give me the blessing of a true Memphis artist.
Even though I’m not the ideal reflection of what we think a Memphis artist is. I’m the true embodiment of left field when it comes to the culture. With that being said I’m still a student of the game I have enough respect to study the craft. I am true hip-hop at the core while also being musically inclined.
I have the ability to read and play music in its purest form. I started out by playing piano and percussion at its highest level attending Overton High School – Performing Arts.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an Artist.
All forms of music. Recording Artist. Songwriter, Influencer, and Innovator. I’m most proud of my latest project “50 Shades of Bae” my most complete and cohesive piece of work to date.
I take pride in my performance ability no one will ever put on a show the way I do & I guarantee you’ll never forget the day you came to see me.
What were you like growing up?
I was outgoing, active, impulsive, & optimistic.
I always saw the silver lining in everything even when things appeared hopeless. I always wanted to do things my way even though it could be for the worst but it felt good learning and knowing I did what I set out to do no matter the outcome.
The universe put things in place so things could happen the way it supposed to no matter how unfortunate it looks. Sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees.
