Today we’d like to introduce you to Andra Hurst.
Hi Andra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been a ‘planner’. I have planned a lot of events. High school reunions, black tie parties and helped with charity functions.
Then, I planned my oldest daughter’s wedding, and in doing so I found something I love to do! From there, I became a certified wedding planner, worked for a wedding planning company and eventually started coordinating weddings on my own.
I’m thankful my brides have written great reviews about my work which has helped build my business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I was born and raised in Memphis. But I started my business in Houston. When I moved back to Memphis 4 years ago, I had to regroup, meet new vendors, familiarize myself with venues, and start over.
Then Covid hit. But thankfully I have still been able to work with brides and slowly build a name for myself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a month/day-of wedding coordinator. I start working with brides anywhere from 2 to 8 months away from their wedding date depending on when they book me. I am a very detail-oriented person. I create detailed documents unique to each bride and wedding to help me run the rehearsal and the wedding.
I do extensive research and planning to make sure the wedding day runs flawlessly. I take detailed notes in my meetings, emails, and phone calls with the bride to make sure I will run the day according to the bride’s vision. I strive to give the bride, groom, and the entire wedding party the special day she has dreamed about.
We start collecting that information months ahead of time so it is not stressful and gives me the ability to run the rehearsal and the wedding day with ease. I am known for having a lot of energy which keeps me running from daybreak to midnight on the day of the wedding!
I am most proud of starting my own business and giving brides the day they always dreamed of. I feel my personal connection, my attention to detail, and my energetic and enthusiastic approach to each individual event sets me apart.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Early on, when I was just looking into wedding planning, there was a mentor that was very encouraging.
I attended her wedding certification conference and learned a lot.
I am grateful to my family for helping me get the business going and for the brides and grooms I have worked with who today continue to give me encouragement, positive feedback, and great reviews to keep the business growing.
