Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Woods Jr.
Hi Antonio, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Well, I started with Krumping back in 2010 which led to me learning about music production from a friend of mines who is Marquez “SoulayKami” Alexander. Under his guidance, I got the skills of the trade and made a name for myself in different spaces such as beat battles. I also worked with artists from different states in the last 10 years such as Thaddeus Royale of Flordia and Southside Jones of Georgia.
Then in 2017, I discovered Twitch.TV and started streaming on the platform because I want to share my knowledge and experiences with the world. I’d met more musicians and gamers on the platform, I was on the front page of the website for a charity that’s all about ways to stop bullying in schools, and build a great community called “AkiNation”.
To this day, I have over 20 music projects spanning from my beginnings as a Krump music producer known as “Badmadstreet” to now as Akitak Uzu (Aah-key-tack U-zoo). I’m still creating content on Youtube and other platforms.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, there were some bumps in the road so no. The first one I can remember is not knowing the music business at one point but thanks to some wonderful people like my best friend Randy “RET On The Beat” Thomas, I was able to navigate through it all. I did lose important files from my beginnings in November 2010 to March 2012.
Also as for streaming, I was dealing with a stream team that was disbanded without informing the members at the time, people trying to put me into a proverbial box when it comes to my content, falling out with some streamers and content creators, and the woke narrative.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well for me, I’m a music producer and content creator on YouTube, Twitch (leaving due to the lack of enforcing policies and favoritism). and Trovo.Live. I create beats in a program called “FL Studio” ever since the 8th version of the program, “FL Studio 8 XXL Producer Edition”. I usually create beats to sell to artists or for the anime and video game crowd. I’m known for my music and the work I put in throughout the years.
Most will say I’m professional, considerate, and can accommodate when it comes to clients, new and current. I’m also proud of the fact that I’m one of the favorites of the current beat battle league I’m a part of called “Let’s Get Loud: Beat Battle/Beat Showcase” because I didn’t feel like I really have a community to belong to until that one fateful afternoon in 2019 where I attended an event hosted by Roger “Kingpin Da Composer” Rowe and his production crew, “Steaksawse”.
The one thing that sets me apart from others is the fact that I started making Krump music since I’m a Krumper and have still been active in the Krump scene ever since 2009 here in Memphis.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I feel the one that deserves credit first is again my friend Marquez “SoulayKami” Alexander because without him teaching me Krump and Music, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. He’s my mentor in music and we have been best friends for over a decade. I still respect him for who he is and what he has done. Another person whose a mentor and a best friend are again, Randy “RET On The Beat” Thomas because he always looks out for me, teaches me the music business, sends opportunities towards my way, and keeps me accountable for my actions.
Another individual I’ll give credit to is my friend Christopher “SuperStar Kay” Richardson whose a producer from Ohio that has a music production company called “Khyng-Jayden Productions”. He signed me into the company at the beginning of 2013 and I’d learned a lot from him. We ended on good terms in 2017 but I’ll still give him the respect he deserves.
My family is my cheerleaders and it wasn’t for my grandfather telling me in 2011 to sell my beats, I wouldn’t be in the best selling business.
